lhk:

HN has $200 off Macbook air 11"

That is very close to getting me into the Apple stack. Now, if only there was a decent special on an iPhone ... yeah, nah.

Didn't anybody tell you I was a hacker?

lhk: Hi all, this is my first post. Does anyone know any retailer doing a good deal on Macbook Pro with Retina display?

HN has $200 off Macbook air 11" but isn't what I need. A friend on the way back from Malaysia, asked him to buy me one. After googleing, found out Malaysia is the cheapest place in the world to buy one. Bought a rMBP with 8gb Ram and 256gb hd for NZ$1850. Saving of $400!! Can't be more happier.

Does that include the GST you declared it for on arrival in NZ...?! ;-)

I think the friend is taking it with them on the way back from Malaysia, so no GST accrued from there.

sonyxperiageek: That's great news. Just make sure the voltage on the charger is suitable for New Zealand.

Can't remember the last time I saw a laptop charger that wasn't a dual voltage one

True that.

Pretty stoked. All the main appliances for our new kitchen that we had priced out at $10000 prior to Christmas, for just shy of $6500.
No impulse buys in 2013 Boxing Day sales just targeted items.
Happy wife, happy life.
And less grief when the next piece of tech finds its way home :-)

On the Boxing Day, I only ended up with one external harddrive 2TB @ $92, a couple of Sony Noise Cancelling Headphones for $35 each and one xbox 360 media drive 320Gb @ $99

Was tempted to get one Windows RT then decided against it as I don't really need it anyway and also as someone pointed out here above that RT is going to be a dead platform... $300 plus a smart cover for another $160 or sth for a windows tablet, not that special price at all or was it?

Then today I found HN is selling the new Canon Powershot S120 for $448; and with Canon's $50 cashback you get the camera for below $400, which is still $100 below the lowest on priceme.co.nz; bought one in the end. For anyone who might be interested, HN Wellington Tory Street is also selling the new Canon G16 for $599 (think there is only one left) before cashback so actual price is $549, which is also quite cool price.

Forgive my poor choice of words :)

Last year's boxing day was like a full harvest for me; this year the earphones are for my son and my partner; so are the xbox media drive and external drive.  I was actually hoping there would be some real special for Sony Nex 6 double lens package to be just under $1000... (dreaming is free :)

Hey. I have been wondering about the s120 but I don't thinki saw it wheni went to the shop. I also like the sony rx100 ii ... But that is alot more expensive at 8-900 dollars. Huge 1 inch sensor awesome low light performance.

You don't need the keyboard cover, you can just use it as a tablet like the ipad, and I don't think the keyboard covers are all that durable, as have read about them splitting over time. You can buy a cheap normal cover off ebay for less than $20 delivered.
RT isn't a dead platform as Microsoft have just released the surface 2 which uses it. Plus it installs software from the normal windows 8 app store.
One of it's major benefits is that IE allows you to view flash websites. Plus it is a good size and aspect ratio for wtching tv/video, unlike the ipad. It's build quality is also very good, not quite as good as an ipad, and better than many of the other tablets.

I got an Asus transformer that has a keyboard. Lousy mouse clicks. You have to press nearly a centimetre to click anything so the cursor moves! Oh well I didn't want to pay 2k for a xps 12

Main issue with the RT is OEMs are getting x86 tabs down to close to their price
