old3eyes: It’s funny how when you measure out 50 years it always falls on the same calendar day as it was 50 years ago, in this case Monday.

This is not true, is it? Well, in your case maybe but not generally?

Yes I did some other 50 year calculations and they were on the same day of the week as they were 50 years before or after..    i.e Was married on a Saturday and when the 50 years falls due it will also be a Saturday.

I think you just got lucky with the ones you tried.

Can't say 50 years here as I retired 12 years ago from Police telecoms but did start as a Radio mechanician in the NZPO atPapanui Post Office Radio Depot at or near the end of 1963..
Congratulations on the achievment.

That is bloody awesome!! Well done!

Totally agree in regards to it being a race to the bottom. I can't believe people have PABX's on sale on TradeMe. You can only assume they have standard configurations which the customer just has to hope will work ok because there can't be much margin in there for on-site work.

You stayed with NZPO/Telecom for 50 years?
Husband took redundnacy after the 2nd round - after he installed all the NEAX with the guys from the US> He wasn't into NEAX. He made 27 years.
