Half Day? Full Day? Do you have your own gear/bait? What type of fish do you want to catch? Do you need the skipper to gut your fish? Are you experienced or do you want someone to hold your hand?

Big Red Boat always been good.

There is one that goes from Leigh as well, near Warkworth. Lovely little place and great fishing spot near little barrier.

The little things make the biggest difference.

I use either Fat Snapper or Adventure Fishing Charters off Waiheke (so you would have to get to Waiheke).

They are about $100pp for a half day. Everything for fishing provided - gear and bait, and they will gut, fillet and skin fish for you (they don't bone it, but that is simple).

They go after Snapper primarily, though if they see Kingfish/Kahawai around, they'll get into it.

I was out on Sunday on Fat Snapper, we go 33 Snapper, 5 Kahawai and a Ling. Left Matiatia at 7am, home by 12.30. I have been out with them and been home before 10am before (caught our limit).

They park up in the mouth of Matiatia Bay to clean the fish, you usually get to see som impressive Bronze Whaler sharks coming up for the scraps.

Recommended, fun, fast and I've never not come home with a bag full of Snapper.

As for going after Game (Marlin/Tuna), I think you'd be better looking into charters out of the Bay of Islands or Tutukaka, or even Tauranga/BOP. That is a completely different sort of charter, on big boats a long way out where you may be out for an entire day dragging a line through the water and may not get a hookup.
