After Life. Netflix.

Up to S01E04 and I think it's some of the best television I've ever seen. Just brilliant.

Fleabag S02E01 (BBC iPlayer) - 9.5/10

My wife got me hooked on season 1 of Fleabag after she binged it in a single day, and it is easily one of the best shows I've seen in years.  It's kind of hard to describe, but the lead is played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (who also writes the show) as the owner-operator of a guinea-pig themed cafe owner dealing with the cringe-inducing issues of her sister, her widowed father (currently shacked up with their godmother, played brilliantly passive-aggressive by the ever-brilliant Olivia Colman), and her best friend and co-owner of said cafe.  It's hard to say any more than that without giving away some of the best stuff, but there's lot of fourth-wall breaking in a very self aware dark comedy.

Season 2 is airing now, and the first episode is available on iPlayer (as is all of Season 1, I think).  It's a masterclass in tight comedy writing, editing, casting, and timing.  If you like British TV, I strongly recommend taking a look.  Don't bother reading reviews or looking for trailers, as that will just spoil things.

Oh, and it's NSFW, so keep that in mind.

I watched Fleabag S01 on Amazon Prime and waiting for it to hit the same channel.

Yes, watched After Life over two evenings this week. Really good show, completely different from previous Ricky's works.

I find in some TV right now, there is a jarring effect in some shows that goes beyond entertainment. Shock Jock stuff.

With my warped sense of humour I am really enjoying Still Game. I am up to series 4 now.

After Life on Netflix.

Really good actually; there were a few moments where he channelled David Brent but only a few.

I could quite relate to it and it was, like a lot of his work, both funny and painful - and I say that as someone whose wife describes him as "a cross between Mr Spock and Sheldon Cooper"!

Catastrophe is back with Season 4 on Amazon Prime Video. Six episodes of 25 minutes each. Really funny.

Just finished watching the full series of The Good Wife. Decided to start watching after seeing it mentioned in this thread. Took about 6 months to get through! Great legal drama. Highly recommended.

@k14: If you enjoyed that then I'd recommend The Good Fight, a 'sequel' of sorts to The Good Wife, and which seemed to invigorate what had become a slightly tired show by the end; it only features some of the key people from The Good Wife (and not the wife of the title!). Third season started last week.

Thanks for the reminder, it is on the "to watch" list.

Agree about The Good Wife becoming stale. Season 6 was struggling to keep our attention at times but overall wrapped the series up well. I am glad they finished it when they did, it could have died a very slow death otherwise.

STDiscovery 9.5/10. I never thought Id be a trekky after the torture of being forced to watch it back in the 60s in black and white, but Netflix are doing and AWESOME job with it. Characters have death and plots are easy to follow. My only complaint would be Suru looks a bit fake.

Im waiting for Outlander S5 to land as I got up to Ep8 and nearly finished it then my Amazon prime trial ran out and they dont do trials anymore by the looks. It is also a 9/10 show.

Not much into TV, but since Netflix there have been some good ones, its forced everybody to lift there game imo.

Just started Mindhunter season 1 on NF.

It's about the early days of the Behavioral Sciences division of the FBI. First 2 episodes are excellent and the dialogue is terrific.

One of the executive produces is David Fincher (of Se7en fame) so I would expect nothing less.

The Americans. Lightbox

Started S01 recently and up to E10 I think.

Have to be honest, it's losing me. I'm over programs which expect you to suspend all belief in the plot.

Senior officials jumping into bed with their secretaries at the drop of a hat, FBI agents talking openly in public about unsanctioned hits, agents making decisions based 'they did it so why cant I ?'.

----

The Grand Tour. Amazon

S03.

Still some genuinely funny moments between the three of them but the repeated cliche car stuff is starting to wear a little thin.

----

Fleabag. BBC

S02

And then something like this comes back and all is right with the world. Both funny and intelligent.
