Haha, I've just watched a couple of episodes of away too.
I also think some genital door slamming might be preferable to episode 3.

andrewNZ: Away, on Netflix.

I've watched 1.8 episodes, the idea had some promise, but it's utter garbage.

1/10, I'd rather slam my bits in the fridge door than watch any more.

Thanks for the heads up - I value my bits🍒

Ha bloody ha... Well, technically when Jennifer Esposito died a few episodes back that was mind-blowing; last week's episode was minds-blowing...

Just finished Raised by wolves.  Quite liked it but I have no idea what is going on.  Space snakes! devolved humans! Sol(God)! Pregnant robots made of dark matter! evil mouse!

It has it all.

A few I have watched over the lockdown:

  • Westworld S03 - Epic production value and scale highly recommend
  • What we do in the shadows S02 (rewatched S01) too - Highly entertaining if that kind of humour is your thing.
  • Then I rewatched IT crowd because of Matt Berry
  • Then I found all of Matt Berrys shows and watched them - Toasts of London, Year of the rabbit, House of Fools to name a few.
  • The Alienist S02, I enjoyed the first season- Period drama/thriller about the first instance of serial killers in NY.
  • A few of the Apple TV originals, all very good. - The morning show, See, Ted Lasso, For all mankind.
  • Corporate S03 on Comedy central - Hilarious show about corporate work culture, basically takes the piss out of it.

All your other show recommendations are great, adding them straight into my plex server :D

I'm not sure why, but I struggled through the entire season of Away.

I'd like to say it got better, but it really didn't. What was most frustrating for me was that in some respects it seemed like they were trying to make some of it scientifically plausible - while at the same time completely throwing science out the window in order to service the overly melodramatic plots.

The part fiction/part doco series "Mars" was better.

I found it implausible that an astronaut would not only be sent into space but put in charge if she couldn't concentrate on her mission. Surely her husband would have some kind of medical checks before she's allowed to go. surely they would talk through the possible scenarios beforehand. You know, what would you do if you found out your husband was dying, your daughter had some terrible thing happen to her etc.

Wouldn't some kind of support to the family be put in place to provide peace of mind to the astronaut?

She falls to pieces from the family stress straight away - and that sent me straight to the fridge which took my mind of things.
