Dulouz: I've been watching Deadwood, up to S02. The dialogue is amazing.

Brilliant show. Too bad it was cancelled after season 3, there was a lot more they could have done.

I'm most of the way through S01. Agree on the dialogue - C**s**kers is used a hell of a lot, as well as a lot less savoury words. Like. Pity about the cancellation, looks like it could have been great.

on the plus side it did free up Timothy Olyphant to go and do Justified which maybe even be a better show.

Maybe, but Ian McShane has never been as good as he was in Deadwood.

Is Game of Thrones #5 going to be broadcast on poor man's TV? (Prime.)

Demeter: Finally got to see Vikings S3E1 and it did not disappoint - this show easily tops my list of favourite shows for 2014/15 (Yes, it beats GoT).

...Followed by a very close second, Black Sails.

I agree about Vikings vs GOT.

The storyline, seems to me, a lot more interesting in Vikings. It moves at a lot faster pace. Are the chars heroes, bloodthirsty savages or something else?

Also, I think it has the greatest intro !

Maybe in 3 years.

In the meantime, EZTV, TPB, KAT, etc will meet your needs

I've really lost track of what is on. SWMBO annoyed me the other day - I was away for 2 weeks working and she was up in Auckland for that period, so before leaving the house she 'helpfully' switched off the My Sky at the wall, resulting in a whole raft of 'Failed' regular recordings....!! She also won't countenance paying for any other services over and above Sky so that rules out a lot of the other things.

I've also found that I dislike watching TV on my computer and the streaming quality of much of it is very average as it is.

I enjoyed Sleepy Hollow the other day, and Blacklist rarely disappoints.

freitasm: I stopped watching Sleepy Hollow midway on season 2. Should I go back? Does it get better?

Yes, I think it does. There was a bit of a lull but there have been a few quite exciting bits and pieces and seeing Walter Bishop being evil is rather fun..!

Was very disappointed that yet another Aaron Sorkin show only got to 3 Seasons. The Newsroom is my second all time favourite show behind the West Wing. I wish more stuff like it was around.

Not really, imo. it's such a shame, I used to love it.  It feels like it went from a story which was clearly going places to a sort of Supernatural 2.0. I watch it occasionally when nothing else is available because Tom Mison looks good in a dusty uniform.

Finally started House of Cards, up to S01E09. Really good show, albeit a bit slow at times.

Up to date with The Walking Dead too, my favorite show. Same with the latest season of Vikings - it's really good. Looking forward to watching Better Call Saul, but will wait till Netflix (Sweden?) has the whole series so we can binge watch.

Such a shame The Newsroom is gone. As you say probably the only one that could measure to The West Wing in terms of political commentary.

freitasm: I have been watching Backstrom - currently seven episodes available on Season 1 (Hulu). Not bad... I give it 7/10 for the dark humour sometimes.

Hurt my back so have been watching TV more:

"Backstrom" 6/10 is a couple of episodes in on free TV. It could work really well but they seem to be trying to make the main character lovable and anti-social at the same time so the direction is all over the place. As whodunnits go it is too simplistic and predictable - both times Backstrom pointed out a dodgy person early in the show and, surprise surprise, they get arrested at the end after much misdirection. I guess that is how it will carry on.

"Motive" 5/10 (some episodes 9/10) follows Backstrom and I don't watch it because the start largely telegraphs the ending with the actual motive hardly interesting at all. Lots of shows like this seem to be derivatives of Law & Order: Criminal Intent which I think was much better to watch.

"Justified" 8/10 because you know the goodies and the baddies and it's just a question of whose scheme will work out and whose won't.

"Agent Carter" 7/10. The most fun to watch of the comic-book genre. It has a strong and capable woman lead which is a change. At least the sexism is a key part of the story rather than a subtext.

"Gotham" 7/10 seems to have settled down in series 2. The "love" interests are more interesting, Penguin continues to avoid death, the Wayne murder investigation has largely faded away, ....

"Wild Coasts" 8/10 Craig Potton, landscape photographer, tours the NZ coastline. Some really good bits (10/10) like hand feeding 200kg rays in his lap.
