Yeah, Brokenwood used to be on Prime, and I would like to have watched it, but Prime has never had an OnDemand app (unless you are a Sky subscriber).

I suppose it might be downloadable, but no legal way of watching it. It would be good if TVNZ grabbed all the old shows and put them up for weekend binging.

I have just seen the advert for the New Zealand drama ‘The Brokenwood Mysteries’

The 30 seconds I saw was enough. Why are NZ dramas always so amateurish?

(Maybe because I’ve just finished watching the excellent Mare of Easttown).

TOTALLY DISAGREE

We have watched all 7 seasons of this show. Yes it is very similar in style and plots to the likes of; Morse, A Touch of Frost & Midsummer Murders and yes it is does not live 100% upto those English shows, but for a small country like ours it is a bloody good show. It rates 7.9 in IMDb. It certainly beats a lot of the Aussie murder mystery shows. The one thing it does have that the English equivalent does not have and that is a sense of humour. The Russian pathologist is a blast and Detective Inspector Mike Shepherd's modern day ignorance is refreshing.

Finished watching

Ragnarock season 2 on Netflix if you liked season 1 then there's nothing you wouldn't like about season 2.

also finished

Jupiters Legacy on Netflix...can't say it was good but I've definitely seen worse. Overall it was a little too predictable. Lastly...

On My Block also on Netflix (all seasons) we both enjoyed the mix of humour with a little side of serious. More of a show aimed at young adults than us older ones.

Black Space (Netflix) This was good. About a school shooting and the officer investigating the incident.

Black Summer (Netflix) season 2.....I couldn't remember much about season 1 of this zombie show and season 2 although it showed all aspects of each scene that plays out it comes across as disjointed.  If it gets a third season I'd hope it was it's last.

The Watch Season 1 IPlayer/TVNZ OD 7/10

Fantasy/sci fi created with some help from Terry Pratchett. Watchable but not outstanding. The lead character has unashamedly taken his acting style from Johnny Depp in Pirates.

The ending sets it up for a season 2.

My wife and I had read and loved the books so were looking forward to this.
It was "loosely" inspired by the books. We were so disappointed that we didn't get past episode 3. It broke my heart a little bit.

‘Sherpa - Trouble on Everest’ doco movie on Netflix. Aussie-made but features Kiwi climbing-tour operator Russell Brice. Documents the 2014 climbing season. Excellent IMO.

As a massive fan of TP/Discworld and the Guards series of books, I have carefully avoided watching The Watch.  I also read that it was, at best, "inspired" by the source material, and that gave me pause.  There have been very few good adaptations of Discworld novels, so I'm not surprised that The Watch fails to impress.

On a related note, I really enjoyed the adaptation of Good Omens (written by TP and Neil Gaiman), but was surprised to hear that they are working on season 2.  That seemed odd, given the first "season" covered the entirety of the book.  Then I read a blog post by Neil Gaiman where he revealed that he and Terry had actually written the outline for a sequel novel way back in the late 80s/early 90s, but never got around to writing it.  Some of the elements from that outline were incorporated into the TV show (which explains a few of the scenes that weren't familiar to me), and the plan is to write the second season around the ideas that Terry and Neil had already developed.  I feel assured by this, because they did a really good job of staying faithful to the ideas at the heart of Good Omens.

The Series Finale of Last Man Standing

This is one of the most fun and wholesome shows on TV about (Tim Allen) who is man in a house full of women. Many laugh out loud moments and consistently good writing. If you enjoyed Home Improvement, you'd like this, I think. I'll miss it.
