Upright, season 2. Written by and starring Tim Minchin (and Milly Alcock, last seen in House of Dragon). Well worth a watch, we smashed the whole season in a few hours.

Just started watching FLEISHMAN IS IN TROUBLE on Disney+ (Star). Only four episodes out of eight available yet.

Recently divorced 41-year-old Toby Fleishman dives into the brave new world of app-based dating with the kind of success he never had dating in his youth, before he got married at the tail end of medical school. But just at the start of his first summer of sexual freedom, his ex-wife Rachel disappears leaving him with 11-year-old Hannah and 9-year-old Solly and no hint of where she is or whether she plans to return. As he balances parenting, the return of old friends Libby and Seth, a potential promotion at the hospital that is a long time coming, and all the eligible women that Manhattan has to offer, he realizes that he'll never be able to figure out what happened to Rachel until he can finally face what happened to their marriage in the first place.

I enjoyed the first two episodes. Its something a bit different, and I expect many people can relate to the troubled times before and after a break-up. Witty script and good acting

Finished The Peripheral on Prime Video last week.

All in all, it was great! Well set up for a second season. I hope there is one.

White Lotus S2 gets very good, can't wait to see how it finishes.  Agree she's not great but does nail the character as it progresses.

I'm up to the final of The Peripheral.  Very cool show, great sci fi concepts and interesting view of the future.

Wednesday - Netflix.

Best thing I've watched in a while on Netflix since the Queens Gambit.

Jenna Ortega is absolutely fantastic.

9.5/10 for me.

After feeling hounded by the promotional adverts, we went and watched Rogue Heroes (or SAS: Rogue Heroes as it seems to be known overseas) on TVNZ+

War series around the inception of the British SAS.  Great acting, amazing realistic scenes, and based on a true story with the odd clip of real footage.  Some funny and unbelievable moments, that if I read correctly were actually toned down, because the real deal was so crazy and preposterous.

Solid 8/10.

Season 2 seems to be in the works, but season 1 could be a standalone.

Messiah - Netflix - 8/10 (so far) IMDb 7.6/10

Messiah is a fictional Netflix series that explores modern day geo-lines among religion, faith and politics. It chronicles the modern world's reaction to a man who first appears in the Middle East creating a groundswell of followers around him claiming he is the Messiah. Is he sent from God or is he a dangerous fraud bent on dismantling the world's geopolitical order? The story unfolds from multiple points of view, including a young CIA agent, an Israeli Shin Bet officer, a Latino preacher and his Texan daughter, a Palestinian refugee and the media, among others.

Only after two episodes I am finding this is to be a very thought provoking series. All non-English is subtitled. There appears to be no CGI scenes so all filming is either studio or outside and it is done very well. The actors, English & non English, are excellent.

The script is superb and is written from several characters and religious point of view whilst respecting same, but with very interesting thought provoking questions.

That's is all I'm going to say, except please do not turn this into a topic concerning religions (plural) or politics, morality and ethics, because the subject matter is very divisive. But I believe it has been handle with great sensitivity.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Criminal Minds - Evolution

Follows the BAU 3 years after the last series ended (in their timeline) and deals with new serial killers. Most of the original cast (sadly missing one key character) have returned, and life has moved on for them.

The acting in the first 2-3 episodes is a little contrived and they are clearly trying to separate themselves from the original series by being edgier, but it mostly still works.

I'm a bit late watching THE WHITE LOTUS.

I watched both Season 1 & 2 over the last week, and I loved it. I preferred the second season, but really enjoyed the whole thing.

Wife and I sat and watched episode 1 of Wednesday on Netflix last night.

Not what I was expecting - but thoroughly enjoyable.

Also watched the first episode of season 3 of Dead to Me. Also on Netflix.

It's sad to see how much Christina Applegate has changed between seasons, as she's gotten ill.

Watching an Andor episode a day this week, and wow, really enjoying it - takes a few episodes to get going but worth the wait :)

This review has it pretty bang on IMO.

We've just finished watching the first season and have started on the 2nd now. We really enjoyed the first and everyone says the 2nd is better so we have high expectations.

I've gone back to For All Mankind on Apple TV+

It's the latest (last?) season and is racing into the modern age (now in the 1990's). As the astronauts were wandering around their base, OMC's "How Bizarre" was playing in the background. I'd forgotten just how big that song got globally.

Anyway, back to the TV series - it's still good, but is still slow going at times. That can be annoying. But I am still quite invested so will continue.
