SJB: If you like Broadchurch try Happy Valley and The Fall, both from the BBC and both brilliant.

The Fall especially is one of the best series I've ever seen.

i would add Hinterland to that list . It's a welsh detective show and welsh is spoken with sub titles added . Well worth a watch

Happy Valley was great, I'd thought it was better than the Fall.

Watched the first season of Fall, really enjoyed it. However, the cat and mouse set up for second season didn't really grab me and reviews I read didn't rate the the second season as highly as first, so I didn't bother with continuing. Happy to take any other views, though.

There's a third season of The Fall in the pipeline. The storyline definitely needs to change direction, maybe a closer relationship between the two main characters.

Jamie Doran makes a surprisingly good serial killer.

Also another Happy Valley series.

One of my favourite episodes is season 4 episode 2 where they find the deformed inbred family.

The scene with the brothers driving in town to bludgeon the sheriff and his wife to death with Johnny Mathis blasting out on the radio is truly creepy.

Yes I remember that!

Eugene Tombs was another fave.

It was definitely much better when it was about aliens and weird stuff - the later series really lost that I felt.

I really enjoyed Happyish. When it started I was not at all sure but got better.

At the moment I'm a bit lost for anything that is really keeping me hooked. Jonathan Strange & Mr Norell is vaguely interesting but departs a good deal from the book.

Brink has had a few amusing moments and fairly heavyweight cast.

Just finished watching the Tomorrow People (US version) with our teenage kids. It was pretty good.  Was set up nicely for a second season but it got canned!

Have also just started Marco Polo. One episode down, so far so good.

Just finished the daredevil tv series, this is how a nero themed tv show should be, much more realistic than the bright and shiny agents of shield.
Breaking bad, binge watched from sky and can watch it time and time again.
Arrow is another favourite, although i feel that the last season lost its way a bit with the whole Oliver and Felicity angle.
Loved Utopia too.
If i want a laugh I tend to head for my dvds of robit chicken (just strikes a chord as I collect toys) and the british show Bo'selecta.

Just watched some of League of Gentlemen again on DVD.

Cracks me up every time. Possibly a bit heavy on the British cultural references for universal appeal here but it kills me. Welcome to Royston Vasey - you'll never leave!

Bojack Horseman.

Starts out feeling like another family guy wannabe, then becomes really dark as you get to know the characters more. Probably the best show about depression at the moment

'Humans' The first episode of the new show, TV3 on Tuesdays. Looks pretty good so far. I like the way the actors portrayed robots.

Daredevil - just awesome microwave-throwing-awesomeness.
Humans - well made but the story annoyed me towards the end, similar to ex machina, the smarter machines got, the dumber they seemed to be.
True Detective S2 - tried too hard, very hard to become invested in the actual storyline.
12 monkeys - was ok
aquarius - very enjoyable, looking forward to another season
code of a killer - miniseries, true story, very very interesting.
halt and catch fire s2 - bit crazy but I enjoyed it.
Mr Robot - currently the best thing on tv, season 1 near the end.

If I had to pick an old show to recommend, The Lost Room, one off mini series that I have re-watched many times....I wish they would make more.

My missus has been chain-bingeing elementary/castle/bones/forever, shes becomes a tv addict in winter
