The series was adapted by the author but a review I read says it's not as good as the books. I haven't watched it.

Let's reach back in time a little.  I'm "guessing" you've seen the movie Dune and/or may have read the book.  Did the movie follow the book and, what did you think of the series that followed the movie later on?  Did it follow the book or did it go tangential and bring in new components that were never discussed?  I'll admit, I saw the movie and never read the book.  I've thought of going back and reading the book but, I've found that sometimes the movie spoils the book for one reason or another.

Thoughts?

I don't think I've ever read a review for any movie or TV series that has said it is better than the book it is based on. Not defending this show in particular... just saying.

Watching the new "enterprise" on netflix. slightly slow but livable.

Just started a Norwegian one - Occupied. Sci / Fi ( near future) with political overtones. So far so good - although not fast. norway withholds gas and oil to push the EU into using clean pwer. EU , ably halped by Russia object snad stages a take over.

Wyonaa Earp - Avoid like the plague. Dumbed down vampyre flick meets girl power and really sucky acting. didn't make it to the end of episode 1.

Nobel - Norwegian - subtitled - well done, under stated , Norwegian special ops in Afghanistan.

Also saw a Movie  " The Salvation" - Danish this time Mads Mikkleson and Eva Green . Bad guy played by Eric Cantonar <sp>  Reminded me of the clint Eastwood movie - unforgiven. Revenge is a dish best not eaten at all.

All the above are netflix. Still waiting for netflix to release more than Season 1 of Gotham. Seriously guys - they are into the middle of season 3 - release the next season.

I've been watching "Travellers" on Netflix. I'm up to E04.

The premise is interesting. People can't physically time travel, but they can take over a person in a location at a known time. Typically, they choose someone who is about to die when the time of death is known. Some interesting wrinkles arise when they find they didn't know everything there was to know about the person concerned....or the historical information was simply wrong.

Why are they coming back? To stop humanity destroying itself and turning the planet into a wasteland.

I do wonder at what point they change things enough that the future they came from never happens......but I haven't got that far yet. So far, so good. I'll watch it some more.

It got better - touched on some human drama stuff - hopefully will pull out of being a soap. Waiting for next series.

Wallander.

Kenneth Branagh at his introspective, curmudgeonly and deranged best in possibly the world's longest Volvo advertisements, featuring in each episode a random selection of the following Standard Wallander Shots :

1) Wallander asleep on chair, wine bottle on floor

2) Annoying ring tone

3) Volvo(s)

3) Trees on lonely landscapes (grey)

4) Squawking seagulls on lonely beaches (cold and windswept)

5) Friend of Wallander dying

6) Wallander doing everything with very little help and no backup

7) Wild, grey farming landscapes

8) Lonely houses

9) lonely churches

10) Argument with stroppy daughter

3% on Netflix  Not a bad  series .  Made in Brazil and dubbed into English.   Considering the low budget they've done a good  job .  Series 2 has been given the OK by Netflix..

Endeavour, The early days of a young Endeavour Morse, whose experiences as a detective constable with the Oxford City Police will ultimately shape his future.

set in the 60's and the series has really got the period right, right down to how smoking was a large part of society . 4 series so far and the episodes are 90 minute long . Enjoying them.

Found a gem on Netflix recently, Utopia. It's an Aussie comedy set in the Nation Building Authority, a Government department responsible for large scale engineering projects of national significance.

It stars Rob Sitch, and is created by the Working Dog Productions team (Frontline). So if you're a fan of their past work, I think this'd appeal to you.

Late to the party, but I'm finally watching Luke Cage and it is goooooood. If for no other reason than the music. Loving it. Thinking Jessica Jones next - how does it compare?
