The Fall season 3 10/10

Outstanding. Don't bother if you like lots of action because there isn't any until the last 10 minutes of the last episode but the dialogue and atmosphere make up for it in spades.

The last scene between Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan is one of the best I've ever seen on TV or film.

Watching The Last Kingdom on Netflix.

Better than Vikings. Much more realistically violent and in fact overall more realistic. People actually look dirty rather than clean and shiny despite mud for roads and raw sewage in the streets as they usually do in such programs!

Amusing to imagine cities like Winchester as nothing more than a small collection of rude huts and left over Roman villas which of course they would have been in AD866. Also, got to love Rutger Hauer in anything.

sorry not quite on topic but if you havent seen Flesh and Blood , you need to . it's a film and all you need to know is that it failed because it was to realistic on what happened in the 1500's. Rutger Hauer stars.

I'll find it!

Luke Cage

Refreshing take on the Marvel universe, along the lines of Jessica Jones.

Will pass on Iron Fist given the poor reception that's getting.

Mars 2016 (Nat Geo). First (half) watched the 6 episodes on a flight and just had to watch it again. My wife loved it.

Plot

In the year 2033, a crew of six astronauts launch from Florida on a journey to be the first people to set foot on Mars. During the descent into the Martian atmosphere, there is a malfunction with their spacecraft, the Daedalus. They land 75.3 kilometres away from their planned habitat. On Earth their progress is being monitored.

Intermixed with the story are real-life interview footage from the year 2016, of the crew, and their mission control; there are interviews with various scientists, and engineers, such as Elon Musk, Andy Weir, Robert Zubrin, and Neil deGrasse Tyson,[4] about the difficulties that the crew might face on a journey to, and living on, Mars.

Marco Polo on Netflix.

Excellent. Can't believe they cancelled that and made dross like Ironfist.

Just watched a British Channel 4 program called Titanic:The New Evidence.  An interesting and plausible take on why the Titanic sunk so fast..

Iron Fist had potential but failed miserably from the casting onwards!

Harlots (Hulu and Brit ITV) is superb and rated 7/10 on IMDB.

The storyline is quite simple - Margaret Wells struggles to reconcile her roles as brothel owner and mother to her daughters. When her business comes under attack from a rival madam with a ruthless streak, Margaret must fight back even if it means losing her family and possibly her life.

Lots of cleavage, nastiness, back street BJ's and short times to keep most people happy - or indeed "offended", as many will be at this attempt to portray a time when 1 in 6 (or less ) women were attracted to (or had no choice but to use) the "oldest profession" to get a penny or two.

An IMDB user review I read (trans_mauro of Brazil) said this in part:-

"This awful TV show is another living proof that imagination in these "modern" times is getting scarcer, rarer, very difficult if not impossible to find. So, as always, directors, writers, whatever resort to the only thing left for them to write about: garbage. They confuse fringe ideas, shock value, revolutionary thinking with the display of rotting garbage.

So in order to fill the airwaves and cables with some sort "material", people decide to show garbage, human garbage in its filthiest form to try and shock audiences, to lure brain dead people and excite their brains in the only possible way those sad lumps of gray and white matter respond to, namely, scatological sex.

As expected, this atrocity is the creation of a team composed mostly of women, probably a bunch of deranged feminists who are using "Harlots" to demonize every men that ever lived in this planet. Treating every one of them as as a potential rapist, a monster lusting for sex every second of their natural lives, doing no matter what to fulfill his sordid desires. At the same time, they show the female owners of brothels and the prostitutes themselves as wrong women...go figure!"

Well, with a comment like that .... my wife and I just had to jump in. And loved it we did!

Bring on Episode 4.

Watched the three "Warricker Trilogy" TV movies with Bill Nighy. The story seems out of a John Le Carre book and Bill Nighy can play a spy...

Just finished watching Colony season 02.

Currently watching Archer, Better Call Saul, & The Expanse "as they air" and nearly finished binge watching Aftermath (was quite gutted to find it got canned after one season, I like it)

Fear the Walking Dead is due back next week so that will be joining the rotation, and will need to find something new to binge once i finish Aftermath. Looking like Killjoys at this stage.
