I like to keep up to date with local and foreign news particularly local news. Can anyone recommend a good NZ news site as I have had enough of reading the badly written articles on stuff.co.nz

I am looking for a sites that contains real news not crud like "The ultimate gym etiquette no-nos", where in NZ Michael Laws is going to live and whats happening in Master chef.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well forget ALL the mainstream media. There is no decent NZ news site really.
The least crappy of them is probably Radio NZ's site, but it tends to be brief.
Scoop is worth a look.

Otago Daily Times odt.co.nz is better than Stuff or NZ Herald.

As a news aggregator, news.google.co.nz is OK.

Scoop is good for the Gordon Campbell opinion pieces, but for the rest of the site it can be hard to pick out the objectively reported content amongst all the press releases.

Errr....that is the only kind of thing that happens in NZ!

Seriously though, NBR is worth a look.

I tend to use the mobile versions of nzherald and sometimes stuff. The mobile versions are almost entirely text based.
