I think it is bad taste, but they are a company that is always pushing the boundaries on advertising. It is all about getting that free publicity. It reminds me a bit of that guy who turned a cat into a remote control helicopter. Very disturbing. It is all about context too. How many top class restaurants would do this sort of advertising. I suspect none. I have only had their pizzas once, and thought they weren't very nice, especially considering they cost a lot more than the competition.

KiwiNZ: Does easter ring a bell as to why I mentioned the time of year?

and? My kids are 4 and 2 both understand rabbits, didn't give either of them nightmares barely caused a stir.

People need to chill out and stop being so sensitive!

Not sensitive I just have good taste

I am not sure how it's a matter of taste unless you ordered and consumed the pizza :)

KiwiNZ: Given the time of year its bad taste, bad advertising from a company that peddles crap food. I can imagine needlessly upset kids.

What have rabbits got to do with Easter? Other than an advertising 'vehicle' to sell junk food, just like Easter eggs, that is....

Easter is about a ancient religious leader, who became a martyr, and whose existence created a world religion. Nothing to do with rabbits at all.

But you all know that already....

wasabi2k: What exactly are you upset about?

Would you have a problem with a sign covered in leather?

Or lamb skins, calf skins...

You say that. But Easter is actually related to Pesach, because that is where those dates come from. It celebrates the Jewish people leaving Egypt.

In other words it's not about that religion you're thinking, but even before it.

I admit, Good advertising. Definitely has us talking doesnt it.
But with that a side my ethics would go against nailing rabbit skins to a billboard.

Would it have looked better if they had trimmed & sown all the rabbit pelts together to create a nice plush texture? I think that's the only aspect that 'offends' my sensibility, I just have a preference for things to be neat and tidy.  I just want to get up there and trim it up clean and square.  Almost has a Norsk/Medieval look to it as is.

As to using the pelt of animals & offending children - I don't know of any children that have been scarred by growing up lying on sheep- & lambskin rugs?  Would it make a difference if they were stapled to a billboard instead? Only if the child was still lying on it I guess...?

Regarding the use of an occasion which has an association with the animal in question... Edgy marketing angle/concept, but don't get the offence.  I'm sure caribou/reindeer are still eaten at Christmas in the North...

If my children got upset about it I think it could be used as a learning opportunity for them.

Personally I would prefer a Kiwi Pizza.

Really wish someone could shoot a couple of kiwis because I have always been keen to give one a try.
I know a mate who lives up north. They do have the very odd kiwi around. Next time I'm up there I'm going to go Kiwi hunting. I'm sure they taste great on the BBQ. Will have to keep it quiet though. I believe people may get a bit upset if they heard I was planning on eating a few of these birds.
