Ok just been to albany and glenfield. Staff are acting ok but still a bit upset, i was the only customer in both stores. However have walked out of both stores with nothing. Only thing i was interested in was still over priced. Both stores went off the online price which included any discounts already on the price.

Lots of kenwood mixers and fans however lol.

Yeah they have roughly 8 weeks to close it seems, so I imagine they'd be watching all the numbers very closely and adjusting the discounts as time goes on.

For example if 20% off GoPro helps them sell 1/8th of their GoPro stock per week, all good. If they aren't selling enough, maybe the next week they'll be 25% off, then 30% off etc.

It's their job to get as much as they can before they close to pay off the debts.

The cheapest TVs have no audio output options and crappy speakers. Watch that.

The vultures have already been years earlier. You could see it as people picking over the bones. However people buying stuff on special are doing their creditors a big favor, because if they don't sell the stuff now via retail, they will get close to nothing for it selling it in bulk to auction houses etcs. The big clearance they had around christmas likely kept the business going over that time, so these big sells off have a big benefit of making money off old stock, that would make only a fraction if sold by any other method..

Likely will just be another empty store, or a food place of some type. Retail stores selling actual goods are on the way out. Most of the shops in my local town are eateries now.

I saw on the door that the receivers had posted that extended warranties possibly may still be honoured by the company that sell them, but they are trying to get confirmation. So maybe worth getting one, or finding out who the NZ manufacturer / distributor is just in case.

They confirmed warranties sold during the receivership (Jan 5th and later) are certainly fine. But ones purchased between Oct 1st and Jan 4th they're still trying to confirm. I guess the older 'Dick Smith' hadn't paid the bill for ones sold during that period?

Dismantle it and take a look inside, then (sorry greenies, but we all do it) it goes to landfill.

I might be after a BlueTooth speaker. HN had the Sony XRS-33 (I think thats the model #) for $130 or so. The maximum I would like to spend would be $200 I think, anything good going around at Dick Smith?
