Riccarton shop has the 'Last 10 days' sign up now.     Unless they need more time to pack up stuff going on to the 29 th seems a bit pointless..

Made my final visit in today. Pretty much empty now and nothing worth buying unless you are looking for an hdmi cable of course. They has a few TVs, but still priced highly. Maybe the last day they will have then cheaper? Looks like it is now 70-90% off most things They are mainly selling things like security tags for $5 each, old folders etc, for high prices. I really don't know who is going to buy those, even if they were 10 cents each. At least they are keeping to the high pricing right to the end.

Geektastic: I'd say within 2 years they will be toast and a fading memory if they carry on as now.

Out by 12 days.

Oh well, even Nostradamus had his off days... ;-p

DSE Mid-Queen St had a LOT of Apple Watches in stock (must've been about 9, 1 of which was opened box/display by the looks).  I was quite surprised to be honest, I did not expect to see that many.

How much were they priced at?

Please don't quote me on this - I wasn't paying too much attention to the prices as I didn't have any glasses on, and I found the tickets to be hard to read, but I think they were around 450-550 ish.  I could potentially double check if I have time on Friday afternoon if you want.

Hornby 1 day to go. Some cables and phone cases left not much else. Just had a thought. They might sell some of those cases to kids from families where phones get handed down. ( Dad gets a S7, oldest child gets the S5, next oldest gets the S3 and so on)

Hand written 'Now Closed' sign at Hornby. 'Suppliers and Capex Only'. (Capex manage the disposal of surplus
assets and waste)

I keep going in thinking they're going to bring out some new stock they found in the back of the storeroom but alas it's just all cables and phone covers :-(

Went in to the Westgate store on Sunday.  Staff were a bit on edge, although I did go in closer to closing time, haha.  They made a big emphasis on not getting paid after 5PM and had the security gates pulled on the door 10 minutes before closing time.

Severe lack of HDMI cables.  I saw two.  TWO.

I also saw a small office computer on sale, which had an unspecified amount of RAM and a Pentium D processor.  They wanted 600 bucks for it!

Big UK retailer BHS has just gone into administration.    Around 11000 staff will lose their jobs.     Final straw was their bank refusing any more credit.    It seems they will keep honouring gift cards as one lady said she had just spent her gift card without a problem.

Another lady (prob. in her sixties) came out of the shop and said 'They used to be great, but now all they stock is rubbish'.

Pretty much what we have been saying about DSE in this thread for the last 2 years.

Went into Hastings yesterday to do some stuff and popped into the Dick Smith shop just to take a final look around. It was a pretty sad sight. The shop, which officially closes tomorrow, was virtually empty, just some miscellaneous cables on a table and a few small items in a display cabinet. I bought some cables for a dollar that I thought might come in handy and a couple of flash drives that were finally a decent price. Also a handful of lithium button batteries on general principles. They were only 60 cents. That's it, I guess.

Enjoy your absurdly slow flash drives. I wouldn't take a dick Smith drive even if it was free.
