Information wants to be free. The Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it.

What's the story here, coolbananas? Why bring up the very thing that you so argued against (under a different username) and, to be honest, made you seem an unreasonable grudge-holder? Makes readers question your motives for making this post, for sure!

Haha yeah, nobody pays for these audits.  They stick a price on it so it seems like you're getting a deal.  It's actually a sales tactic - they tell you everything "wrong" with your website then proceed to recommend one of their ($$$$+) packages to redesign it and host it.  Nothing to see here :)

give me an example of a "free" or "discount" service that is actually worth my while? discounted goods yes, cheap service yes, discounted service ... doesn't exist!

Yeah, I'd buy that argument. A classic in this area are those frequently offered deals for cheap WOFs or servicing on vehicles (eg from TreatMe) - I'm always suspicious that this will simply result in the the mechanic identiifying "faults" that require repair, thereby more than recovering any money lost in the original deal. I'd rather stick to my own mechanic who I trust to identify issues, do the work properly, and not rip me off. (Equally I don't trust WOF places that also do repairs - whenever I've taken them there it's so amazing how many issues they've identified that other WOF places or my mechanic haven't thought were substantive enough to warrant fixing.)

Totally agree with mechanics doing this.  i used a new mechanic which was across the road from a place I was renting in Berhampore and they failed on a couple of things over what I'd expected.  Since then been 3 WoF's at VTNZ and they've not required the supposed failing very small rust spots to be fixed and or even noted them yet.

Got the other stuff all fixed and took back expecting to fail as hadn't done the rust but passed and has passe another 2 times since then.

If they are normally free, you have to wonder why they are advertising it as a special offer.
