A friend, VUW professor, asked for help with some PhD work. You can help if you feel you qualify as "currently using ICT's for work purposes" by completing this survey (they are looking at collecting 300 answers, so we can help a bit on this):

Connectedness and Productivity - Victoria University of Wellington PhD research project needs your help.

If you are currently using ICT's for work purposes, we invite you to complete a short survey questionnaire. It should take you approximately 7 minutes to complete the survey, which is anonymous and will be available until the 30th of June 2014. By completing the questionnaire you will be entered in draw to win a prize of $100 (NZD).  Please follow the survey link below:

http://vuw.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_cI8is430amCkeix

Your participation is important and will help to improve the understanding of the use of ICTs in the workplace.

Information wants to be free. The Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it.

Not done - as I don't "work" in a conventional sense (semi-retired and do an assortment of things) -but would have been happy to if that wasn't the case.
I don't want to be a fly in the ointment here, and I didn't see the questions, but isn't the already considerable risk of selection bias in conducting an "opt-in" survey exacerbated in this case when the invitation to participate is extended openly to a geek forum, where in particular:
Average ICT literacy could be expected to be much higher than the average in the workplace, and whether true or not, through their own experience the participant would expect that ICT skill etc has a direct correlation on productivity.
Some participants will work in ICT, one way or another dependent on effectively "selling" the benefits of ICT on productivity.  As they say, turkeys don't vote for Xmas.

Edit to say that I could be completely wrong here.  The whole point of the exercise / thesis may be to investigate perception bias in the value of ICT between geeks and non-geeks, etc.

strange description in the survey - ICTs

"use of ICTs at work. ICTs are any device or application that you use to send and/or receive information electronically"

Also there seems to be very little difference between these 5 questions on the same page

My job cannot be perfomed if I am disconnected from ICTs.

My job requires me to be constantly connected to ICTs.

My job requires me to be connected to ICTs the entire time.

My job heavily requires me to be connected to ICTs.

It is essential to be connected to ICTs to perform my job.
