When you click the link entitled "what happened to hard news" on the stuff home page you get "page not found". Classic!

The main message I got from the article is that domestic current affairs is diminishing with budgets not sufficient. That's why we are seeing more foreign current affairs on shows like 20/20 and Sunday. I am disappointed but not surprised that the article didn't give me to grasp about "what happened to hard news".

There's something amusing about posting a non-clickable link in a thread about broken links :)

I find the new 7sharp format gagworthy. It's like those male/female Australian news shows. Imho it's out of step with the times and a giant step backwards. But realistically it reflects a change in the demographic for the audience in that timeslot and the programmers are just confused about it.

This year, Seven Sharp has been pulling an average of 430,000 viewers in the 5+ demographic per episode.

So, it's a children's show?

So stop watching it if it is bothering you? Why watch crappy TV news shows and then complain about them. Just admit you are not in their target audience and do stuff online.

Yeah I stopped after 5 random minutes. In the previous format Jesse Mulligan usually kept me entertained until at least the first ad-break.

There's also something similarly ironic/amusing about an article lamenting the dearth of hard news appearing on the Stuff website tongue-out
