What do you think of yours? Good quality construction? Any warranty claims? How were they to deal with?

I am back to considering a Dyson v6 Animal which seems to review really well, as well as the Sauber, which I was pretty impressed by, but so you should be for $2000+!

Anyone got a Dyson? Is there a way to have it mounted without requiring an Electrician to install wiring for it?

We've got a V6 cordless Dyson - the step down from the Animal I think?

If it's the same, the mounting bracket is reasonably low tech. There's sort of a holder for the barrel plug that slots it in to charge as you slide it in to the mounting bracket. I was a little underwhelmed; I was expecting fancy levitating magnets or something from Dyson but it does seem to work.

You just slot the cord in and then the bracket screws to the wall with two screws. We had a convenient plug already though.

Don't make the mistake I did. If you want to keep the pole on it even when in the cradle, you need to allow enough room for it to "arc" in.

Vacuum seems to go well. We hardly ever get out the big vacuum cleaner any more. We've turned off turbo mode (instructions could have been better on this) to make it quieter and the battery last longer. Sucks well enough without it. About the only criticism is on hard floors it sometimes tends to "sweep" the detritus around rather than sucking it up. Particularly when you pull it towards you. I often have to make another pass pushing it, but that's relatively minor in the grand scheme of things.

Hold off on the V6 if you can as the V8 will be released (or get the V8 overseas). Regardless, the V6 is the best I've used, and hardly plug the upright any more. I find the pick up is so good it really makes you think why you'd use a normal vacuum cleaner again. It is truly the gold standard.

I have an Absolute - it has a higher watt motor brush over the Animal.

I just saw the v8, looks awesome, however it's $499 GBP which means here it will be $1000+. The V6 Animal is $499 on special till midnight at NL, hard to justify half the price.

We have long pile carpet and pets, so I am unsure how good it will be, but the convenience has me thinking *I* might help out with the vacuuming.

Got the Animal v6 for $480 picking up tomorrow.

For the record, according to a website I found, the higher powered engine is the Animal, the difference between the absolute is a special hard floor pickup roller head and HEPA Filter.

I thought all the V6 models had the same motor?

We got the Absolute because "shiny". The main motorized head is also a bit different (Animal has "Motorised Cleaner head", Absolute has "Direct-Drive Cleaner head"), this is the bit khull meant was more powerful. Personally I doubt it makes much of a difference and the actual suction power is the same. Other than that (and what you mentioned above) it's the same as the Animal.

EDIT: Added info.

We have Dyson barrel vacuum which I highly rate.  About 4 years old.  Has coped well with two cats and a large, sheddy Labrador.

We also have one of their stick vacs for doing a quick tidy up and to vacuum the vehicles.
