The wife and I are interested in attempting to make out own sausages.
Does anybody currently do so and can recommend a not horrendously expensive stuffer to start with?
We already have grinders etc and would prefer to have a separate stuffer as it doesn't limit as much what we can put in them.
We don't want to spend heaps (ie 100s and 100s) as we are just testing the waters.

I'm keen to find any suggestions too, I always imagined I'd just get the attachments for my grinder (Porkert #10). At the moment I just have a single plate but I have thought about getting some accessories including sausage stuff.

I've been looking around for a good manual machine.  My grandmother had manual grinder that had an attachment, and that kind of thing would do me.

Solely for use at home. It's mainly to trial if we like the idea of making our own for BBQs and the like.

I got one of these from Dunninghams, plus they sell casings etc. Soild and reliable.

I suspect one could also just use a piping bag, but I have not tried doing this.

I live in palmy. Thanks heaps for the offer but I wouldn't trust myself with borrowing someone else's, I'm prone to breaking things at the moment for some unknown reason :-|

What about a caulking gun? Although I am not sure where you can buy clean empty cartridges to fill with sausage meat.

I have a Jerky Gun that I use to make minced meat jerky with. You could easily use it to stuff sausage casings with it as well, though probably not as stable/easy as a bench mounted option.

This is the one I have, though I would probably recommend something like this which has an actual sausage filling attachment. Bonus with this is that you can make jerky with it as well if you have a food dehydrator, or are willing to use your fan oven for an extended period.

Its really a two person job with the proper stuffer, I think it would be tricky with other implements to be honest.

This is a cool idea. I wonder how well it works. I do have a food dehydrator and I think I'd like to make some jerky too.
