Screen capture from Google Maps.
I presume somebody did an edit via Google Map Maker.  I'd have thought there might been a human at Google verifying edits.

I see that it's been corrected.

In case anyone is looking for cat-based geospatial data, this one has been up for a while

Cats cats everywhere.

Human behavioural modification though latent toxoplasmosis - I suspect.
The parasites that cats have formed a commensalist symbiotic relationship with control our minds.
Or it could be something far more simple than that.

Yeh was great cat pic but i understand why corrected.

On a related theme, why does google earth list the falkland islands as las malvinas? they dont seem to do it for other contested geo names.

I bet the islanders view googles naming as vandalism

Yes, it was someone who is currently calling themselves "GoogleMan".
It will be interesting to see what this does for their trust levels that they spend 4 years building up!
All the history is available.... including the deletion by the Google Editor about an hour about 2 hours ago.

All edits can be reviewed by humans at any point. I have publishing rights which allow most of my edits to appear immediately on Mapmaker and shortly thereafter on Google Maps. Basically they are being reviewed by computer, but at any point they could be reviewed by a real person and either rated as good edits or bad edits.

Are you sure that T. Gondii hasn't caused a behavioral change in - to lead you to believe they're cute?
Kittens are kind of cute - I think we're programmed to like juvenile face-patterns with oversize eyes.
Adult cats - no.  They look like other species which would only really consider us to be either a threat - or food.
