I wonder if it could be Jupiter. Jupiter should be somewhere round the North part of the sky.

I don't think it could be Venus. That should be in the Southern part of sky.

...so the suspense is killing me. Has anybody figured out what it is yet? Do I need to check my disaster kit again? Are we being invaded?

That good picture looks like a balloon. You can see the a bottom dot, and what appears to be ribbing on the edges to add strength. I vote Google Loon

Does indeed look like the ones that have passed CHC in the past.

Not all of them show up on FR24, which is why I lived in hope of someone else logging all aircraft transmissions such as I do up that way to confirm contact with one. But alas.

I had one go past above nelson/wellington last week so its entirely plausable its a re-passing of one from the same batch some weeks ago.

BlueShift: If you're in Hamilton right now, take a look outside in the sky, down and left a bit from the sun is a shiny object. Its been pretty much stationary there for about an hour. Can you see it? What is it?

I don't think I have been smoking the same stuff as you...! ;-)

No invasion. We completed that some time ago and no one in the galaxy will take us on after we obliterated Kzark 12 to make a point.

This looks like a possibility.  It actually mentions New Zealand
