MileHighKiwi: We can't defeat the idea but we can definitely take down huge numbers of the scum bags in air attacks. It's awesome seeing Jordan unleashing hell after the brutal murder of the Jordanian pilot, but we need other, bigger, countires to get involved and do the same. Are ground troops even required? Can't we just bomb them off the face of the earth?

bomb them? who is them?

These guys are not fighting 20Th century issues they are fighting issues from approximately thousand years ago.

I know, but western meddling led to the instability that they exploited to rise. Syria? America put his daddy in charge. Iraq? America put Hussein in charge. Afghanistan? America armed the Mujaheddin (who became the Taliban and al-Qaeda). Libya? Trained and armed by America. The list goes on.

The difference now is the East and West have been invited in to help in a coalition. If the World does not help do you really believe that these guys will stop when they have Iraq and Syria ?

When a puppet asks for your help, is it really a request from the puppet?

I am alarmed at the use of the word 'cockroach' to describe people, and a call for extermination of them, and I am desperately avoiding Godwin's law.

They are people (at least some of whom) *believe* all that is in the Koran. Absolutely believe it. And believe the interpretations that their leaders put on it. The fact that they are wrong on both counts does not make them non-persons.

What they are doing now is exactly the same as was perfectly acceptable in Europe 1000 years ago, and dare I say it, 75 years ago. We didn't need to exterminate the Spanish, nor the Germans.

We do need to offer those people a *better* alternative than submission to a brutal regime.

That's the thing. Half of these guys are born and raised in to thinking what they believe is the right way and rest are the problem. Or they kidnap and force people to go along with it in order to not end up dead themselves.

I'm not condoning anything though. What they've done is as bad as the west bombing innocents to kill a few.

As much as I don't like Donald Trump he did make a good point, when someone went to war they went to war to win. That attitude might eventually prevail with western countries in sorting this crap out.

Are we still talking about ISIS? Or have we moved on to the CIA?

Hell no!

What I am saying is that it happened in Western society not that long ago... the Arabs/Muslims/ISIS/Taliban/mujahideen are not *that* different from us. And that calls for genocide are unacceptable.

I am not advocating genocide I am advocating for the total victory over ISIS and the complete removal of any means they have to continue their genocide.

These guys congregate in massive numbers all the time, they travel in convoys etc...I'm suggesting an extension of the bombing campaign that is underway already.

If you have an infection, you eradicate it. Imagine if you could wave a magic wand and make the entirety of certain countries or regions disappear in the blink of an eye how much safer and more pleasant life would be for those that remain.

networkn: I was alarmed they want to take the war to Rome. With so many historical places and objects in Rome the damage they could do to historical sites is frightening.

They want to take the conflict Global, their aim is to kill all who do not believe in what they believe and their version of Islam. They cannot be reasoned with, they cannot be negotiated with.

Yah I understand that, however having just been to Italy for the first time and seen some of the wonders of historical significance, their loss would be hard to put a value on.

Oh I don't know. I could put a value on the loss of ISIS...!

There are means for that, more or less. But what you seem to be advocating for is genocide, and ISIS/L etc seems like the lesser of evils than wiping out millions of innocent people for the transgressions of a minority.

freitasm: Watch Charlie Wilson's War and wait for the last five minutes. It's an interesting account (and foreseen consequences) based on Charlie Wilson's works.

yes and also interesting the the countries where ISIS/L has taken foot [Iraq/Syria/Libya] are the same countries that 'required' enforced or backed regime change

Maybe. But would the world as a whole be better off?

Maybe you can bomb a western country too, there are a lot of child abusers there and the world would arguably be better off without them. Doesn't matter that they are a tiny minority vs. millions of innocents, right?

In fact, I am certain there is a higher proportion of child abusers in just about any country than there are terrorists anywhere.

It's not a bad idea, although your main problem would be that you'd have to eradicate the entire human population to achieve no child abusers because they exist in every country. Terrorists on the other hand do not.

It's a perfectly logical conclusion that the best option is the removal of the human race, however, in relation to a number of issues.

Is NZ one of those places? I only ask because if you're going to nuke Auckland I'd like to either be under ground zero or far enough away to just be amazed.
