maybe some less abrasive carpet ?

:)

i've worn out slippers but usually from the inside where all the fluffy stuff has matted or come away.

:(

on the other hand i have an expensive pair of rockport walking shoes that seem indestructible - bought in 1996, they still fit and shw minimal signs of wear & tear.

My wife brought me a pair of these for fathers day this year.  Good timing as with the weather change they are now getting used daily.

I'll definitely be hoping to get more than 6 months out of them!

Problem with buying online is you never know if they'll fit well. I tried on two slippers in the store, same size in theory, one was significantly larger than the other. The only shoes I'll buy online are ecco and merrell, because I have enough of each that I trust their sizing.

I've found the best slippers. Spenco Supreme Slippers, from amazon.com. I've been wearing mine for three months and there's no wear to the sole. They're more like an indoor shoe, built to last, with a soft but seemingly robust inner sole. They're probably considered orthopedic, just because they have some padding and contouring, rather than being flat and hard. All in all the best slippers I've ever worn, and worth paying double what average slippers in NZ cost - around NZ$100 ish.

Be glad you can find ones that fit.. I have wide UK14/US15 feet, very rare to find reasonably priced footwear full-stop, and slippers is one of the things I've never seen in my size (i'm sure I could probably find some online if I was prepared to part with a limb or two however)
