I've been using an old Kinyo 5.1 which I originally had for the Xbox -- as it was the cheapest thing I could find with an optical connection. I've always had to keep the subwoofer disconnected, otherwise my flatmate panics and thinks it's an earthquake.

Last week I was spotifying while I worked, and all of a sudden the speakers screamed full-power, just about blew the windows out. I pulled the plug, and tried it when it had cooled down a bit, and it seemed to work, until yesterday when it started making extra noises I had to permanently retire it.

So it would be the ideal time to replace it with something modern, and not so... budget.

Swype on iOS is detrimental to accurate typing. Apologies in advance.

We've just started pre-empting our childrens' music choices by playing music that is less intrusive. The unit will allow us to use a streaming service instead of CDs.

I've got a Sony STR-DN1050 in the lounge and have been thinking about running some speaker cables out to the verandah to have the same music out there as in there is playing in the house when I host BBQ's. This would be a great alternative to running those cables!

Well, after to failing to win that UE Megaboom the other week, I went out and bought one - but the family are so in love with that, we could always do with another portable speaker. When I win this (power of positive thinking!) this would probably end up in my elder son's room, knowing him.

Current TV speakers just don't cut it. Given the small space, available this should do the trick nicely. Count me in.

I don't have a speaker, I've wanted one for ages! I'd probably locate it in the living room so all of our gadgets could connect.

I have a pre teen daughter that is going to want something like this very soon, it would help if I didn't have to buy one. :-)

This would give a bit of quality to the sound from the TV, with the bonus of being able to throw tunes to it from my phone.
