I just had an eBay purchase cancelled by the seller because Smart UK has told them they are not allowed to send parts that will end up overseas! :-(
I was having the part shipped to Youshop in the UK, the sellers words were :

Due to rules put in place by Smart UK these prevent us from shipping parts to UK shipping hubs - where upon the part is eventually going to enter a country outside our contract territory.

Is this sort of thing happening a lot now ?

No idea. Do you know anyone who lives there who you can send it to instead?

Sometimes these things are ridiculous. I once had a US flashlight maker refuse to send me something because it was "banned by ITAR" (International Treaty on Arms Regulation) even when I pointed out that they had a retailer in NZ, he just charged 4 times what they do and so it couldn't be banned....

Not had that happen on a UK purchase yet. Can you get it thru amazon at all? They dont seem to give the same ability for sellers to just cancel purchases as easily as ebay do.

That is really annoying... I'll see if I can find the site I was using to buy smart parts when my I had my ForFour - they were super quick and arrived within 4-5 days, usually via FedEx.

I have heard a couple of stories with people running into issues where these addresses are flagged; not specifically youshop though.

EDIT:
This was the site I used last to purchase some new light housings, grills and a few other bits. I suspect that he may have more as well if you flick an email through and ask.

Another good resource, not specifically parts related, but Smart related is Evilution.

Another parts supplier that Evilution seems to recommend is SmartPartsGermany. Unsure of their feelings towards shipping INTL though.

Miss my Smart Car!
