DizzyD: Awesome idea, but the greens will never allow it in this country

I saw the soundbite about it harming native species - any idea what their actual issue is?

Some lizard I think..

Hmm...make millions and increase economy...or keep small lizard happy.

Also a Green voter & non-member.

I think that the Greens would also like to find a way for the rockets to go ahead without harming wildlife. However,

1. They're the opposition, so they have to oppose (i.e. point out faults)
2. Without their input, would anyone have considered the wildlife consequences? It apparently wasn't on RocketLab's agenda.

I dont think anyone here has an issue with checking out conservation issues with the project
The do have to oppose, yes
Maybe not, the RL team may have easily assumed it was just hedgehogs and rabbits

Its HOW they oppose. I love their ideals

And they would somehow defy the laws of physics to make it silent, as well!

I would assume such a project would require resource consent which would include an environmental impact assessment?

And no - the greens in opposition do not have to oppose - if an idea is sound they can support it. Opposing for the sake of opposing is stupid.

How about - here are our concerns how can we address these and move forward? Rather than BAAAH SCIENCE BAD ANIMALS LIZARDS ARAAH.
