freitasm: He didn't say that. He was asking for evidence on your claim that infidelity will normally end in divorce - your claim, your turn to prove with evidence of fact instead of changing the discourse.

We all know what normally happens when there is immorality in a marriage.

So far in this thread nobody has proved anything with any evidence. Why should I? (Only links I have seen backing up claims made are to some blogs and youtube videos) This is a discussion, not some debate where hard evidence is needed for every single statement.

If you dont believe me then ask somebody who has been there. Better still ask a women. (Any women here on geekzone? )

Just a tip here.  Unless you're a monarch, avoid pluralis majestatis.

Your use of "we all" includes me (others too possibly) and I don't agree with you.  So speak for yourself, please.

Woman is the singular of women.  There are some female members on GZ.

Fred99: We live in a  pretty good little island (more than one BTW) in the bottom of the Pacific.  One of the (if not "the") greatest things about it is that we have a damned fine close to world-leading record on human rights, liberty, separation of state from church, and low levels of corruption / high levels of personal freedom.  It ain't perfect - but an ongoing work in progress - and it's generally been heading in the right direction for a long time - even when we have centre-right governments.  That's a bloody good thing - but you're scaring me a bit - I'm concerned that perhaps you don't feel the same way!

Can't say I agree on your statement above.

Is it really any different to WikiLeaks?

If you're going to be pedantic, then yes - there could be non-residents posting here.  Pedantry isn't necessarily a virtue.  We are all human after all. A human failing may be that we sometimes presume to know the thoughts of others and speak for them, when we have not been appointed spokesperson. Does that clarify it for you?

Fred99:
These were pretty typical (female) school teacher employment terms from 100 years ago:

1. You will not marry during the term of your contract.
2. You are not to keep company with men.
3. You must be home between the hours of 8 PM and 6 AM unless at a school function.
4. You may not loiter downtown in any of the ice cream stores.
5. You may not travel beyond the city limits unless you have permission of the chairman of the chairman of the school board.
6. You may not ride in carriages or automobiles with any man except your father or brother.
7. You may not smoke cigarettes.
8. You may not dress in bright colors.
9. You may under no circumstances dye your hair.
10. You must wear at least 2 petticoats.
11. Your dresses may not be any shorter than 2 inches above the ankles.
12. To keep the classroom neat and clean you must sweep the floor once a day, scrub the floor with hot soapy water once a week, clean the blackboards once a day and start the fire at 7 AM to have the school warm by 8 AM when the scholars arrive.

That list hoisted from a US site, but it's almost identical to what was standard in NZ institutions.

Today they have just been replace by many crazy health & Safety rules and some other general PC gone mad rules.

If people feel the need to carry on arguing let's set some terms of engagement.

What: write exactly what it is that you disagree with

How: write what exactly is your opinion

Facts: if you have any facts feel free to post them under this heading

Privacy commissioner weighs in:

https://www.privacy.org.nz/blog/what-you-need-to-know-about-the-ashley-madison-breach/

I have some sympathy for this point of view and I mostly agree, but on the other hand I hope this does not lead to hard.government censorship like blocking of sites.

What I disagree with is the repeated use of the term 'immorality' when referring to adultery. This is a very loaded value judgement that makes all kinds of assumptions that may not be true. It is also quaintly archaic. Adultery is adultery. Whether it is immoral or not is another matter.
