There was a time when people advised using LCD TVs as computer monitors, why was that? Was it something to do with eye strain or flickering.... I forget

Anyway I want to be able to use my TV as a monitor from the couch for basic programs, like word etc (poker jks). Nothing intense or long.

Essentially just curious as to why TVs were not suitable as monitors?

I think it has to do with colour gamut, mostly.  I don't see why it would be a problem for most tasks.

agggh, ill look into that. i thought it was something to do with fonts etc. but the fonts on my 1080p look better than on my apple monitor.

i dont actually need to wear my reading glasses with the tv lol

For those uses, I can't see why not.
