The backbone that has allowed it to move into Australia, the UK and the US is seeing a 10% price increase?!

There better be some extra services or functionality.  Drury said he'd never do it while he was in charge.
Big business strikes again.  [Source: Matt Goodson, Salt Funds Management quoted by NBR]

Citation needed (for both price increase and Rod saying there would be none).

I can't see how any business could say they won' t ever increase prices. 10% over all this time is more to keep up with  inflation IMO.

Any views as to whether a VPN service coupled with my US credit card would work for a SAAS like Xero?

USD 15/mth vs NZD55/mth - its starting to look attractive enough to use Xero outside of NZ.

Scalable business - average cost to service declining.
No price increases for customers outside of Australia and NZ.  US cost base increasing - NZ customers being used to fund overseas expansion.

Thats rank.  For those that supported and established the business its a kick in the teeth.

Will that support multicurrency, transaction feeds from NZ banks, and NZ GST?  Otherwise you'll have to manually import everything, and hold your nose and pretend USD are really NZD...

If you didn't see this coming, I am unsure what to say...

The best thing is, now you are invested in the platform, you don't have any choice. Chances are you aren't going to go back, so expect more of the same...

Considering we pay so much more than the rest of the world already, when you convert the prices at current exchange, this is pretty low.

Xero have added new functionality, expenses have increased, and pressure from both customers and investors continues to grow, so I don't begrudge them increasing prices accordingly.

Personally I'm more concerned with the commensurate decrease in labour costs that accountants are realising through clients using Xero and other such software, while fixed fees remain static.

You people are so cheap.

Just wait and be amazed by the new features that Xero are rolling out soon:

  • Invoice Reminders
  • Search

These are world leading features and a bargain at this price.  money-mouth

Something my inhouse accounting system has had for it's entire life! Didn't cost extra.

Wondering if you are perhaps being sarcastic?

Looked at Xero for our business 3 years ago (was being heavily pushed by our accountants) and apart from being "online" it offered nothing over the competition. For $800 they would import debtor and creditor names only. Instead we got full transaction history, ability to open all old invoices and everything ported over.

A stand alone product on our own systems with our own backups had much more appeal. Infusion which we went for had much better contract management (Xero's addon was horrid). Yes its less flashy and has less updates but the last 3 years has seen the accountant convinced and now they have quite a few clients who have switched from Xero. For a larger business it was the right decision. Im old fashioned I buy something I want to own it not the ongoing only while I pay right to use it.

Yes I was being just a little sarcastic but the new features I listed as rolling out soon are direct from the linked Xero page announcing the changes.

There are a lot of features that Xero have just introduced that my 10 year old copy of MYOB has.

It might be time for me to talk to my accountant about using a different product for the next financial year.  This is very easy to do when you're just using the system as a cashbook and the accountant does the rest anyway.
