Dingbatt: In a couple of days time. Normally we leave it up all of December. This year in going to use the Belkin wemo switch and sensor I picked up in the black Friday sales along with IFTTT to run the lights (just to be geeky about it).

That is an great idea for the Wemo. I have one in a box that I bought on Black Friday. Sorted! I can also tell Alexa to turn the lights on.... Alexa and Wemo is awesome.

We put ours up 1 December.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

SWMBO has decreed it will go up on 1 Dec and must come down by 3rd Jan otherwise we will have a year of bad luck. She has yet to be able to direct me to a validated source for this witchcraft, but who am I to argue, when the human race is at stake.

Try telling SWMBO that the date to come day is Epiphany 6th January and see if the good luck happens. Even better, it will be a Sunday this year so it will be a thing to do during that long weekend.

I always liked the idea of the 'Festivus' pole as described by George Costanza.

Apparently it snowed in Arthurs Pass on Christmas Day one year.

Later the better, its another thing to water and clean every day! :P

plus it tends to follow with the ear bleeding!

on a related note though, There is this massive santa which was erected at work on Saturday.

Oh if looks could kill, watching owner stick it up! Was that, Oh bugger... it really is that time again moment!
