@danepak Countdown has always been a pain with debit cards + Paywave. You normally need to insert your card regardless for anything except credit cards.

I can pay at Countdown using the ANZ app but can't use NFC with a Westpac debit card and NFC.




System One: Popcorn Hour A200,  PS3 SuperSlim, NPVR and Plex Server running on Gigabyte Brix (Windows 10 Pro), Sony BDP-S390 BD player, Pioneer AVR, Raspberry Pi running Kodi and Plex, Panasonic 60" 3D plasma, Google Chromecast

System Two: Popcorn Hour A200 ,  Oppo BDP-80 BluRay Player with hardware mode to be region free, Vivitek HD1080P 1080P DLP projector with 100" screen. Harman Kardon HK AVR 254 7.1 receiver, Samsung 4K player, Google Chromecast

As far as I can tell, Countdown only supports Visa contactless, sadly.

Odd - it definitely works with my G.E. Money Visa Credit, but my Westpac Mastercard Debit doesn't work. May need more investigation then.

OK, so for the actual VISA credit card, I obviously have a pin (let's just call it 1234)

 

For the ANZ app, I have another pin (let's pretend that's 4567)

 

When I try to set up contactless paying in the ANZ app, it asks me to create a PIN for the card.

 

My question is: Does this PIN have to be the same as the card pin (1234)? Can it be the same or can it definitely NOT be the same (so it has to be anything but 1234)?

I *think* it can be anything; but to be honest, that's a question best answered by the bank.  You could call them on the 0800 number.

Visa Credit and MasterCard Credit will always work contactless, but only Visa Debit will work contactless, not MasterCard Debit. Its due to the interchange agreement that Progressive has.

I called ANZ and was told that the PIN for the ANZ Wallet can be anything (doesn't have to be the same as my card PIN).

 

However, was also told that the phone has to be 'awake', when I try to do the payment (so the screen has to be lit).

 

Will give it a go later today or tomorrow.

I've taken the cover off and still same issue.

 

When I tried at Countdown today, it just kept asking me to try again. After I'd given up (and used my credit card instead), I received a message on the phone app, stating that there was a connection error.

 

The only thing I can think of, which can cause a problem, is that I've got a small magnet on the back of the phone (used as a phone mount for the car).

Is it a standard model? the difference between ANZ here and aus, appears to be in NZ they are all whitelisted. So only very few non Samsung and specific samsung at that models are 'approved'. Although the app has a payment option on my XT1092 (motorolla X g2) it has similar errors regarding please swipe card or declined..

There goes that theory. Unless they also have it limited to specific OS build numbering...

 

 

 

I take it your settings menu displays a 'tap and pay' option (once NFC enabled) and its fully populated by the goMoney NZ defaults. As mine does, but won't work due to model :(
