I posted my thoughts on the previous page but does anybody else think Kylo Ren wasn't as dark as the trailers made him out to be? As soon as he took his helmet off, there was a voice in my head that said "Ugh god, cant take you serious anymore, put the helmet back on". Just seemed weak and ugh I dont know, just didn't like it at all. Probably my biggest gripe with the movie in all honesty.

I really enjoyed it. Far from perfect, but a very fun movie, and asked more questions than it answered, which I think was great for the first in a trilogy. I think they toed very close to the line, if not slipped over slightly, on paralleling the original trilogy arc - let's face it, there were scenes almost lifted directly from each of the original movies. But they were done so in a fun enough way that I feel it passed as paying homage, rather than just copying. To me, the big thing is the direction they go with 8 and 9. They've set it up, and a truly great followup would, imo, elevate 7 with it. Likewise, if 8 and 9 fall flat, a lot of the 'what ifs' in 7 will become 'who cares' and hurt it retroactively. That said, it's the first movie in many years I've enjoyed enough to watch more than once, and actually care about a sequel.

He looks weak intentionally because he is still having doubts, hasn't had all his training etc, I think he looked a fair amount better after he put his sword to dear ol Dad.

Fred99:

"Star Wars has created an obsessive subculture of socially and hygienically bereft fantasists who subsist on Dominos and Mountain Dew, devote hours in forums arguing about whether Stormtroopers or Sandpeople killed Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, and leave their parents' house once a year to attend Comic Con."

Probably true.

The mere fact that the correspondent mentions Ayn Rand to prove their elitist credentials would mean I didn't want them sitting next to me in a movie theatre, or a dinner party for that matter. Their sole objective in life seems to be to lob social hand grenades and see what ensues.

The subculture produced is no different to that from Star Trek, Dr Who, Lord of the Rings or WoW for that matter.
Funny that it mentioned landing on a comet, I seem to remember an interview with a NASA scientist around the time of Leonard Nimoy's death attributing Star Trek with getting him hooked on astrophysics in the first place.

Star Wars kicked off a whole genre of CGI Sci Fi movies and TV.

I read something this morning that reckoned the Stormtrooper that got JMT'd into letting Rey go and drop his weapon, was Daniel Craig.

Saw today.... 9/10, it was fun regardless of the silly bits .

A silly bit not yet mentioned.... the new death star is the size of a planet. How did the millennium falcon happen to crash land within a few hundred meters of Rey whom they were trying to rescue?   And, the shield control room was also in the same spot. And, Finns old boss was also nearby. And, the boss of combat troops also knows the shield codes-- that was handy.

I'm gonna put it down to the force.

But i don't care, the movie was fun.

Finch: I saw the movie on Thursday.

Im not the biggest Star Wars fan, i've seen all the previous movies, but I couldn't remember what happened next if somebody was to ask me.

My thoughts TFA was that I thought Kylo Ren was a disappointment. He wasn't as dark as the trailer made him out to be, especially when he took his mask off.

What was the point of Captain Phasma?

Didn't like the very final scene. This comes down to personal taste I guess as some would say it was more powerful with no words being spoken. I actually thought Luke was going to come out of no where during the final battle.

Really enjoyed BB8

I quite like we are getting villain in training. Kylo Ren faced a decision to go to dark side or the light, just like Luke in RoTJ, but he went to dark side. I am glad we have a more humanized villain these time.

It will be interesting to see Kylo and Rey both get force training at the next movie. One dark side and the other on light side.

Apparently the book has a lot more answers about who Snoke is, and other interesting tidbits the movie had to cut

^ban user^ ; ).

Did Finn die? I was sure he was dead. Then the 'see you again' setup will be a new clone with possibly some mysterious shared memory resonance occurring with previous Finn. There were no scenes of Rey mourning Finn which either means he is alive, but at the time i found the lack of mourning a bit disturbing considering how close Rey and Finn became during the film.
