geocom: Although I have a weird feeling about the rest of the movies without Han. A movie like this needs his character to point out the insanity of the moment and joke about it.

I noticed Rey got many of the humor lines in this one. Maybe that will continue.

Rey may have the lines, but he can't deliver them like Han.

That's one  of my disappointments with all of the new cast.  They just don't excite.

They needed to find someone with charisma lined up to replace Han. Bring on Jason Statham I say!
Rey or Ren?

Oops, I was thinking Finn - although I think the Stath would be a massive improvement over either Rey of Finn!

drquack32: I don't buy that cause Han and/or Leia would know they had a second child... I can't hypothesize a situation whereby this works in what you suggest above.

Its just a feeling I have. I feel like Han and Leia know more than they are letting on and I kind of feel that they know that now is not the right time to reveal it to her.

I think the Obi Wan being her father has too many issues. The least of which being Ray is to young Obi Wan has to have been well dead when she was born and I don't think they would try to say that there was some ghost business going on in the bed room.

I have also herd a theory that Ray is a clone of Luke's chopped off hand that the First order are using to build a Jedi army and that Ray was left on the Jakku because she was rejected from the batch. I just don't see this happening as they would be far more likely to flush her out the air lock than risk leaving a Jedi out there in the wild.

The theories get wilder by the day eh ...

The next day it will be Han had an affair with a wookie or something weird

I've come across this  post which provides some good arguments to support the speculation that Rey is Obi Wan's granddaughter.

Rey could be a force sensitive child trained under Luke for some time. After Kylo turned to the dark side and killed most (?) of the students, Luke got Rey out and sent her to the outer rim. Her memory got suppressed by the force or by her own mind..... just an idea.....

But there is a lot of thing pointing her as a Skywalker. The froce, the gift with fixing stuff, the piloting skill and most important, Star Wars always focus on the Skywalker bloodline....

A review of a Star Wars review.

The Huffington Post’s article, “40 Unforgivable Plot Holes in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.

Over the last few weeks I saw this article reposted over and over both by folks in the film industry and outside of it. The reposts often carried captions from Facebook users like
“Yep!” or “This is exactly my problem”. Oh shit. Did I miss something? Maybe the Huffington Post and half of Facebook saw something I didn’t. I needed to know more. So I read the article. I read it numerous times. In the end, I came to my own conclusion…

The Huffington Post has no idea what the fuck it’s talking about.

I don’t know about the rest of you but I’ve grown exhausted with the horseshit, hater culture that online, millennial ‘journalists’ use to click-bait their way to some sort of self-perceived intellectual high ground. Hate first. Don’t bother asking questions later.

After all the thought and effort I put into prepping my review, the Huffington Post article had somehow stunted my ability to write about the new “Star Wars” movie. But I refused to be deterred. Thus, this article is not intended to review “The Force Awakens”. It’s intended to rip the head off the Huffington Post’s dumb-ass review and shit down its still-gasping esophagus.

Now, keep in mind I’m not a professional reviewer or even a journalist. I’m just a regular guy who has spent the better part of his life dedicated to studying story structure, plot, character, scene study and script development while working on twenty some-odd motion pictures over the last seventeen years. I might not be the guy to question the Huffington Post’s lofty review, but I’ll give it a shot.

So what are these “40 Unforgivable Plot Holes” and why is the Huffington Post ass-backward in their review? I blame it partly on the click-bait era. I also think that being a contrarian dick makes people feel intelligent. But those aren’t the reasons the review is horseshit. It’s horseshit because it really seems like the reviewer didn’t watch the movie at all.

I think they passed in a supermarket one day and the force jumped from one to the other. Luke now has leprosy and lives alone on an island just off Ireland where he shares a cave with 12 cats and a blind Wookie called Mavis.

2nd viewing, this time in 2D. It seemed a bit shorter. It seemed like a tighter film in 2D. I felt the camera angles were slightly different for some scenes particularly the close ups, and there were definite lighting differnces. Ford did not look washed out in 2D.

So I'm curious if they use cameras with different angles for some of the 3D or if it is just the different perspective of the extra camera view added.

Imho there are massive challenges for actors and art depts , directors etc in 3D. There is a long way to go for the art to catch up but I'm really glad they are making this format and making progress in it all the time.

I would like to think it failed because quoting the previous post in full in the very next reply is.. is.. is.. like, unnecessary..

Watched it on Sunday, Imax 3D.

Awesum. Nuff said. Well, maybe Kylo Ren was portrayed somewhat weakly - room for character development in the forthcoming sequels

Breaking news!

Now this is very interesting for those who care: JJ Abrams have just stated that Rey's parents are NOT in Episode VII ... That pretty much rules out Luke. Is Obi Wan in Ep VII or is he not?
