Just got the email that starting February 1, they are making fees flat rate 7.9%, as in they are removing the 4.9% ($200-$1500) and 1.9% (over $1500) tiers.

They say "We’ve lined up our new success fees against your sales activity over the last year – and our changes equate to an overall fee reduction for you based on that activity."...

Uh no it doesn't. It means my success fees will skyrocket as the items I sell are often around the $500 mark. One item if sold now would cost me $43 in success fees will be $59 in fees with the removal of the tiered fee structure.

Why not just take your business elsewhere? You could try...um...or...um...or...um...advertise in your local newspaper?

My letter said my fees would increase as most of my sales are above $200 but they are also allowing 20 photos for free now. Agree that its not great but what you gonna do right?

Geektastic: I think charging Listing Fees AND Success Fees is double dipping....

But you don't have to pay listing fees normally, any success fees. Or are they changing that.? If they are going to also how charge ousting fees, then I will cease using them, as there shouldn't be a listing fee, and things can take many resisting before they end up selling.

You don't HAVE to, but to have a successful auction you're expected to.

They made it harder by removing car parts wanted category... was 99 cents to list initially then free relist, and it allowed listing of mobile number, many smart buyers would contact outside TM and I'd happily sell at price after what fees would leave me with.

But they removed it for "security reasons" / "scammers". Yeah right.

It really does seem that TM would rather have a lot of low price goods on their site rather than the higher $ goods (over the 200 mark).

I don't really understand their thinking on this with sites like aliexpress etc.
The only time i ever buy cheap stuff is if i need it in a day or 3 and can't wait for it from aliexpress (i.e. cheap phone covers/screen protectors).

I have all but stopped using Trademe. I have not purchased anything for a long time and I either give things away to family or take them to the Salvation Army.
