the lady of the current set of new world ad's. that naisley twang is so annoying and cringey
freitasm:Yep. I needed $2000 cash one day and the teller told me to go to the ATM - after I waited in the queue behind two people in front of me. She could as easily just have swiped my card and handed the money.
Depending on which bank you're with, she could have been trying to save you the teller transaction fee, no fees for using an ATM.
We have some (recent) roundabouts in my area that seem to have been designed by monkeys. Going into the roundabout from the main road, which is one lane, you suddenly are presented with two lanes, which again become one lane after joining the main road again. If you want to make a right turn into the cross street, you have to cut across the two lanes of traffic entering the roundabout from the other direction. Since this is a very busy road, the manoeuvre is difficult and fraught with danger as you can never be certain what the oncoming traffic is going to decide to do.
I understand the thinking. By having two lanes in the roundabout, through traffic can continue without turning traffic causing a bottleneck. But it is a horrible idea in practice.
Plesse igmore amd axxept applogies in adbance fir anu typos
The bank / money withdrawal thing could have been a covid thing, you know, reducing contact and whatever, but the cynic in me says they'd use that as an excuse not a reason...

Also find this one a bit fraught -
Short Street is a bit of a backwater so if you going from Commerce into Short you need to be awake. Also going from Short into Commerce with Pacific Coast and Commerce being so close together.
Still, the local traffic light count is zero, which is always a big plus...

Behodar - 'Yesterday I had one indicate left and then go straight. Fortunately she was going fairly slowly so we didn't crash, as I'd pulled out and started turning right. I suspect this was a 'change of mind' as she was certainly going slowly enough to turn left.'
Was waiting to turn right once and had a cyclist display a certain finger to me as he was coming down the hill as I went in front of him. Wow you think, totally deserved. Well probably, though in my defence, I saw him coming, and he was approaching so slowly I assumed he was turning right and I really did have enough time to do so safely. I was wrong about his turning bit. I really try not to assume anything now.

@eracode:
Sounds like bank tellers don’t actually handle cash any longer - which I find very hard to believe. Maybe they were indulging in ‘customer re-education’ to suit their own objectives.
Read my reply just below...
Sorry, can’t see it below your post. Did you mean just above?

@rb99:
Reminds me of the last time I went into BNZ to get some actual cash money. Couldn't be done they said, have to go outside and use the ATM. One of most ridiculous things I've ever heard.
(I wanted a specific amount for some reason, didn't wants 20s or 50s).

That could support the idea that tellers don’t (or banks don’t want them to, or want you to think that they don’t) handle cash - as I said - but I don’t believe that for a second. It’s really about customer ‘re-education’ to get you do what they want you to do - so that next time you’ll just go straight to the ATM.
Practicality and customer service don’t come into it. They want teller time to be minimised because it’s expensive and they want to reduce the number of tellers they need. Banks want to reduce foot traffic inside branches and promote electronic banking - so that they can justify closing the branches down.

Going from Commerce to anything you need to be awake because people rocket south on Pacific and there's the motel in the way so you don't have much visibility...

They need to justify it ? thought they just closed them, the end.
Always thought if banks insist on closing down in more rural areas they should actually be forced to share a premises but on different days - they all rent a site, BNZ gets it on Monday, Kiwibank on Tuesday...

^^ Not sure they ‘just close them’ - they probably announce closures in those small rural towns with some trepidation because there’s usually huge push-back and it must damage them from a PR point of view. But in the end they are too big to care and the closures happen so you’re probably right.

It is possible but she didn't tell me that. And I don't think there's a fee on my account for that type of transaction on that type of account.

Have literally removed hundreds of screws, very few alike. Thanks mate!
Probably using the box of ones from sweeping the van out.
So my ryobi angle grinder died - its old, but they still sell that model as the non brushless one. Was going to buy another one - but $150 at bunnings, and US$45 at home depot, so think I will pass on that till I can do another big tool order from the US.
So I figured I would just use my old dirt cheap plug in one, but its 100mm, whereas the ryobi is 115mm. So off to bunnings and get some more flap wheels in 100mm from the cheap brand they have.
Get home, go to fit one and I have a wire brush on the grinder, so don't have the nut for a disc on it and cant find it anywhere (wasted 20 mins looking and sorting out the powertool drawers
New nut is $20 at bunnings, $10 at mitre 10 (thats just the nut!) and $0.50something plus $2.something post on aliexpress. A whole new cheap off brand 100mm grinder is $33 at bunnings, $40 at mitre10.
So that's today's productivity ruined because of not having the needed tool.
