Hey, Eurovision is not a singing competition, it's sophisticated psychological warfare.

PsychoSmiley: I'm annoyed by the lack of attention Eurovision get in New Zealand. In Australia it was a -thing-; get your friends, drinks, snacks and have a fun time enjoying ridiculous music. Here? Wife and I have to stream and talk amongst ourselves.

if i wasn't  a cynic , i would think Ukraine winning it was because they were the best.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Annoys me when mitre10 are out of the size screw I need so I have to get the vastly inferior ones from Bunnings with the stupidest head design ever that tried to take 2 screwdriver heads but fails spectacularly.

Wish they would just stop making Philips heads and even worse the ones that have the slot for slotted screwdriver bits too. Who the hell uses those for anything other than opening paint cans?

Journeyman:

I was under the impression that the petrol stations don't let the next person fill up at that pump until the first person has paid.

Not true. The cashier can unlock the pump for the next customer before the first customer has paid. However, I don't think they can unlock it again for a third customer until the first customer has paid.

Had this discussion once when I was wondering why often the not so great stuff wins. Eurovision isn't about talent winning, it the political aspects so you're not even remotely off on your thinking. Normally this isn't as apparent in most years, but this year it's front and centre. Ukraine won with an utterly massive boost from public voting.

Otherwise I'm in it for the kitschy over the top stupid stuff eg. Norway and Moldova's entry for this year.

Yup. If the Ukrainian troops played this (NSFW, remove small children and pets from the room first) at the Russians they wouldn't stop running until they reached Siberia, or possibly Alaska.

I don't 'get' Serbia's entry and I have no idea why it did as well as it did. Can anyone explain?

Edit: This helped.

The Serbs must be better at ballot-box stuffing than the French, the Germans, the Italians, ...

(Not bashing Serbia here but pointing out that it's a popularity contest, not a song contest).

Watching a few Youtube clips on DIY stuff. Some of them yak and yak and yak and yak before getting into it. Goodbye, onto next clip

Oh and watching one, they are talking in two places on the clip, one has low volume so turn it up,the other the volume is ok, now its loud. Not that uncommon

I dont mind that, as long as it at the end of the video.

Telling me to like something at the start or in the middle is pointless as i haven seen the whole thing to know if i want to or not.

Often the best info is in the comments so I usually scan them first.

For a few years it was played on one of the more obscure channels on either Sky or Freeview (can't remember which), then it was being shown on UKTV, but it seems to have disappeared, which is a shame...it's a great hoot.

Companies that use modern technology to replicate age-old ways of doing things. In this case, no "contact us" form, no published email addresses, just "come back during business hours then sit in a queue for 20 minutes for the privilege of using our live chat".
