I'm only on day 9 of the "5-12 days" estimate, so I'm not too worried yet. It's the "*May take up to 8 weeks" underneath that's a little concerning!

msukiwi:

That almost nothing arrives by "Overnight" Courier from Auckland to Christchurch these days!

NZPost / CourierPost average 5 days!

I just don’t understand why NZ cannot manage courier systems. I ordered some stuff for my Mum from Marks & Spencer in the U.K. last week. Not only could I choose the actual delivery date but the time within a 2 hour window!

If it isn’t delivered when it’s supposed to be you get a refund.

I am getting products from Tamaki Makaurau at an average 2 days from order. From Otautahi average 3 days.

neb: Countries with national religious holidays where the entire country is closed and you can't get a Covid test for travel anywhere. It is literally impossible to get a pre-departure Covid test within 24 hours of flying because nowhere that can give you the test is open. The workaround, hopefully, is to get a really expensive PCR test which gives you 48 hours rather than 24 and hope they can send you the results before they shut down for the duration.

Does this help at all?

I’m interested, since Te Reo is an official language, is the bolded above how you address your parcels? It may explain why you get better service.

However, I believe you are in the southern part of Te Ika-a-Maui, so is it possible that it takes two days from Tamaki Makaurau to your locale and then three days to Otautahi. So the same 5 days as msukiwi referenced?

Taylor Fascia guttering.

Turns out that the insurance claim may have to get a whole lot bigger!!

Called a crew to come in and put some overflows in to prevent the backflow issues that we get with Taylor Fascia gutters.

They decided to have a good look around the house and have found way more moisture and damage that we originally thought there was from the flooding we experienced in March, so it's now looking like instead of just the lounge, kitchen, dining room and Master bedroom that need to have the gib ripped off and replaced (as well as ceilings and flooring), it's probably also going to be the other two bedrooms, garage and bathroom that need doing.

And the gutters are rusting out and need replacing!

This is going to cost us a fortune...and a battle with the insurance company, I'd say.

Using the Metlink (Wellington) app to work see when your bus will arrive, see it's due and then it turns up 5-10 minutes later, during which time you are wondering if the bus is actually going to turn up. What makes it worse is that app will then often display the time of the next bus before the current one has arrived making you think you blinked an eye and the bus whizzed past you. This is not an impossible scenario given I often am waiting at 6:50am for the bus and barely awake :-(

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Couriers. Again.

Sent a package on Wednesday afternoon from a depot in Martinborough to an address in Lower Hutt.

Still not delivered. That’s about 50km.

Parcels. Again. I know.

Two parcels from different places in Merica cleared customs within 10 minutes of each other in NZ (apparently) on 3rd June, since when, crickets.

It's almost like they do stuff extra slow to show what you get when you pick the cheapest postage...

Finally. Both parcels Arrived at Destination Country. 28th May they left, 16th June they've arrived (probably). Maybe someone finally looked in the bag labelled - cheap postage, process when you've got nothing better to do.

Yeah the latest is that the insurers see no reason the additional stuff can't be added to the claim, as no work has been done yet.

The gutter guys (who aren't gutter guys at all, it turns out - that's just a sideline) have done some serious invasive testing of the walls and framing and are going to provide a report, which we then have to provide to the Insurance Company's assessor/building company.

They'll then send their own assessor out to take a look and a new Statement of Work will be drawn up, including anything the assessor deems to be a valid part of the claim.

It'll be interesting to see how the building assessor views it all, as the report will be provided by a different set of experts, who he may not agree with.

New Monitors finally arrived after a week.....only to find that they DON'T actually have a VESA mount!

I never "dreamed" that a modern monitor wouldn't have one!
