Behodar:

Sudden failure of an HDMI cable that's been happily sitting untouched behind the TV for two years.

Next annoyance: Realising that that was a bad diagnosis. There's nothing wrong with the cable. I turned the PS5 on yesterday and there was no video. I connected a different cable between the PS5 and the TV (same port) and it worked. Conclusion: Cable is bad.

In reality, a couple of days ago I unplugged the PSVR box at the wall since I haven't used it in ages, completely forgetting that the HDMI runs through it. I'd accidentally bypassed it when testing yesterday...

iPad 10th Gen = $899

Gota pay for Tim Cooks $100000000 somehow.

I just got yet another bug report with a tiny "screenshot" of just the error message, with the underlying window, record ID, clock etc. all cropped out of the image. I've been saying for years that IT needs to take the Snipping Tool away from people, yet they still refuse to do it...

Supermarket self-checkout machines: When there is only one payment option, but you still have to 'choose' it.

I went to The Warehouse for the first time in years the other day, and was pleasantly surprised to find an "Express EFTPOS" button on the main screen, getting everything done with a single button press. Why can't the supermarkets manage that?

The thing that annoys me about New World is that the buttons move: On a terminal that supports cash, that's the top-left option and card is the second one along. On a card-only terminal, the card button is first. I keep tapping the wrong thing.

The amount of CR*P you still have to uninstall off a new laptop! Including the already installed McAfee A/V - slow down software!

You spend more time uninstalling the cr*p than installing / setting up what you actually want!

Amazon US Store sell this...

External Hard Drive - 16TB External Solid State Drive  $119USD

Of course, a fraudulent product, when I go to report it, get directed to this page....

https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/?nodeId=201909130

Which says,

"We take fraud, scam, phishing and spoofing attempts seriously. "

But, there is no link on this page to report a fraudulent product. Is this taking scams seriously?

Slow day!  Amazon is simply littered with fraudulent products these days. I don't know how they manage to get so many fake reviews.  I tried to write one, but, I don't meet their community standards to post a review.   It's hilarious, only criminals and fraudsters can write reviews.

In my experience McAfee has always been the most useless dead weight neck anchor in the history of computing. I was already having to untangle the laptops of friends from its octopus embrace more than 20 years ago. How much must pc manufacturers be paid for spreading this unholy pestilence?

You shouldn't make that mistake again. As the old proverb says "Fool me once..."

Mistake of buying the new laptop or spending the time to uninstall all the cr*p?

(Which will speed the laptop up so I gain in the end for the time spent.)

I generally just reinstall windows. Never know what other traces of filth are left after the removal. Have seen root certs left by some malware/Antivirus software in the past.

Not defending it, but all that crap is subsidising the cost of the laptop, the retailer gets a kickback for every crapware icon and application on there. That's one of the reasons why business laptops cost more (alongside the allegedly better quality), they're not being subsidised by crapware vendors.

That's why John McAfee made this informative video with instructions on how to uninstall the product (NSFW):
