Magnetically attached things, like chargers. Such an annoying feeling when they keep pulling apart when I am trying to use them. Apple's stupid proprietary connectors are the worst. The laptop power cable cannot be extended and it is REALLY annoying when I try to use it on the couch and the battery is low.

Handsomedan:

...

I remember a club/cocktail bar that we used to go to in London in the 90's that had a nice person (sometimes a man, sometimes a woman) offering not just towels for the washed hands, but cologne for the gentleman.

I used to get a bit pissed up and virtually bathe in the stuff. Magnificent.

I spent time in London in the 90's also.

We obviously didn't imbibe at the same establishments though.  The places I patronised you'd be lucky if they had a facility to dry your hands, and at times the facility to wash one's hands was unavailable because it was in alternative use due to no vacancies at the toilets and urinal. (Specifically The Spotted Dog in Willesden Green on a Friday night and 'The Church' Sunday lunchtime sessions.)

Roses are red, that much is true, but violets are purple, not ****ing blue!

Pop-up vendors and food trucks and the ilk who don't make clear where they are going to be next, and when you ask, tell you to check insta, where they show conflicting information. Why make it so hard to find you? I want to buy your food!

Or the council advertising events on facebook, where for me at least facebook seems to present them to me the day after they occurred.

It astounds me how hard some hard-working businesses that are clearly trying to survive, make it to do business with them.

I am really, really, really disappointed by my nectarines. Ripe off the tree these have the most intense flavour imaginable. Nothing else comes close. But the ones that can be bought in supermarkets or even roadside stands are hard as a rock and inedible. However I try to ripen them they just go from rock to rotten. Nothing seems to work.

In frustration and out of despairing longing, I had a nectarine tree planted on my property. After a few years of pretending, this year it finally bore real fruit. The birds love it as much as I do. Most was just barely not ripe yet but I could see it would be gone if I didn’t pick it, so I did.

I tried one that was closer to ripe than the others and it was pretty good. Following some Internet advice, I put the rest under a tea towel for a couple days. They are all ruined. Again, from rock to rotten.

Does anyone know how to do this? I would really like to just be able to enjoy some nectarines next year. Please help.

To extend this, any business whose sole online presence is Facebook and Instagram. I do not use Instagram, so attempting to view any post is ordinarily met with a signup prompt, so that business will never get my custom because I don't know where they are!

Facebook presented me with an add on Sunday morning reminding me that the Elton John concert was still on and to allow plenty of time to get to the venue!

RNZ is really going downhill. Articles increasingly riddled with typos and basic grammatical errors are clearly not being edited. The latest is silly graphics gimmicks like the current item on climate change. Talk about style over substance. I am not keen on any merger with our horrible overcommercialised TV NZ, but almost anything would be better than the current downward slide. RNZ is the only source of 'impartial' 'quality' news in this country. Sadly, it is our pathetic version of BBC and ABC. As it gets even more dumbed down, I don't know where else to turn. Where are the actual journalists?

interest.co.nz and newsroom.co.nz have got some reasonably decent content.

sir1963:

There is a guy in the mens toilet who's job it is to hand you ONE piece of paper towel after you wash your hands

Now that's a sentence containing the terms "a guy", "men's toilet", "hand", and "job", that could have gone in an entirely different direction...

Getting a "buy more stuff from us" marketing message from a vendor, when your previous (and first!) order still hasn't shipped, 27 days after ordering.

Neighbours who spend a good number of weekends and public holidays banging, sawing, and clanging.

They are always working on their house (which has just been largely rebuilt anyway), don't they have better things to do? They are not very fast workers either, as their jobs never seem to finish.

We need the german law where neighbours can't make noise on Sundays!

My neighbour has the same issue, their neighbours have been rebuilding their house and garden for the last thirty years or so. In this case they are German.

Kontinuous improvement!

On that note, I need to sort out this hole in my roof at some point...
