Countdown's balsamic vinegar glaze, which contrary to expectations isn't reduced balsamic as you'd get in a restaurant but some sort of gloopy sugary goo infused with a bit of balsamic.

Actually, I wasn't trying to be snarky this time. I think you are also making assumptions based on all the other times when I was. All I meant to say was things will probably get better and your frustrating experience is just a snapshot based on current circumstances.

According to the news eggs have been in short supply, apparently having to do with new cage prohibitions. Avocados don't seem to be where I am but the news also keeps going on about produce shortages. Maybe you are just having an unlucky spell.

Pretty hard to tell from what you wrote to be fair.  Yes I seem to be having an unlucky spell, that was the point of the post.

Anyways, bigger problems in the world I guess.

Oh, *thank* you for your assumptions and for explaining how I could have avoided my 'complaining'. What substitute for my unreasonable standards would you like me to use for Methylated Spirits, Avocados (which aren't sourced internationally), and eggs (also not internationally sourced)?

Paul Ego on More FM. He was brilliant as the voices guy for them a few year back, but he is painful now. Almost as bad as Wallace Chapman on the drive home :(

Annoyance lies with the annoyee. If you want to be annoyed by something I write, feel free. I won't get in your way.

The number of people selling power tools on TM advertised as "good condition" or "great condition" where it's a case of "I'm sure that under all the rust it is actually in pretty good condition" or "I can't really see the condition because it's being hidden by all the corrosion and pitting". The latest one, which triggered this post, looks like it's been stored outdoors in a coastal environment for a year or two.

And that's not getting into things like the kerf inserts having several cut marks into the sides... how do you even do that?

Sometimes you might be be able to negotiate with the outgoing tenant or owner/vendor for them to leave the stuff and for you to buy it from them - but that’s not the norm. Kitchen fittings are regarded as chattels rather than fixtures. Weird but true.

https://www.goseewrite.com/2019/05/the-oddity-of-german-kitchens/

Wow, you'd really want to know about that in advance! Most kitchen cabinetry is pretty custom as every kitchen would be different etc and how you'd want it laid out could differ. Or are houses bulk standard in that regard in most houses in Europe?

I think the reason is (partly) that people rent for very long terms in Europe... 10+ years in the same apartment is quite normal, and 30+ not very uncommon. So your cabinetry & light fittings and so on are amortised over a much longer time frame, and it becomes feasible to make your apartment exactly how you want it.

I wouldn't say this annoys me - just a mild sense of disappointment - maybe nostalgia. I saw a headline in NZH saying: "The Chicks announce two NZ concert dates".

Oh great, I thought, Sue and Judy are still going strong. I'm old enough to remember well the Donaldson sisters from the 1960's when they were a successful and great pop duo.

But I was disappointed - The Dixie Chicks have usurped our girls' group name.

The real Chicks.

The usurper Chicks

That is very old news. You must have been living in a cave. They changed the name to get away from the bad connotations with dixie.

To be fair to the 'new' Chicks, their reasons for dropping the Dixie were valid and received the blessing from 'our original' ones for the name change.

Thanks for explaining "plethora".

It means a lot.

Waking up on a Monday morning tired and feeling unwell, due to a restless dog and idiots in cars doing donuts somewhere nearby (within earshot, but not actually in our neighbourhood).

No need to be like that. It's first I've heard of it OK? Because I don't know anything about the DCs.

First I've heard of it too. No shame in being one of the lucky 10000.

Sorry. I didn't mean it as an insult. At the time it received wide coverage (on American news at least) and I was just surprised you didn't know it. The reason it received wide coverage was because of the racism aspect at a time when confederate monuments were being taken down and fascists were marching and people were dying.

All good. I'm possibly a bit sensitive due to living in cave. 😀
