When I have to look at how humans treat their own kind, I'm not sure if I should call that the crown of creation. Only very few animals do that among themselves.

Handsomedan:

When we are in a very upmarket short term rental (courtesy of the insurance company and a lack of anything else in the market at the time), but the dishwasher hasn't worked for 2 weeks - the owner is obviously a tightwad and has sent a friend to fix it (several times) and it's still not working.

Just send a professional, once. They'll fix it and we'll all be happy. We've paid the equivalent of $2.5k per week for this place - I'd expect a working dishwasher.

What is the amateur repairman doing? Much more than clearing a blocked pump probably requires an appliance serviceman. Landlords can't use homeowner exemptions and you shouldn't have to trust that he's competent.

I don't think we should call it the crown of creation, because I believe in natural selection.

I believe in that too, but what is natural about bombs?

Shouldn't that be natural deselection?

You mean because a bomb can statistically hit the stupid and the smart, the weak and the strong equally?

It annoys me that our media keep presenting rugby as a news item. A thousand dead Israelis is news. A deadlocked US House pf representatives is news. Ram raids are news. Rugby is not news. It belongs in the sports section. It does not qualify as news.

But sportsball is importanter than anything else in this country.  *facepalm*

In Argentina, a radical copy of Trump is gearing up for the next election campaign by means of tiktok promises and the masses are cheering; in China, a worker pees in the raw material tank of the world's largest beer brewery (Tsingtao).

Guys, are you totally in trouble now?

The Argentinians are in for pain. The guy denies almost all claims of torture and killings during the military dictatorship of the 70s/80s.

And people cheer for this guy.

Unbelievable.

Some humans are deplorables.

Not annoyed, but mainly amused. Why would anyone have a scrapper crawling Geekzone 24/7 from an NZ residential connection?

Most amusingly, this is blocked automatically anyway, so this person uses their connection to receive an error page. Nothing else.

He probably needs an "internet alive signal?“ 😄

It would use less resources if this person used a ping instead.

Too easy. He may not even know what he is doing or he may have forgotten.

Deadlocked US politicians is par for the course. They're all playing brinksmanship games to try and score a few political points. Yawn.
