… except for last year.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
MadEngineer: another exiting a shop straight into your already constantly changing path.
These exist anywhere. Walk down Lambton Quay and every second store you will bump into someone coming out of the shop talking to a friend, without looking before stepping into the main path.

djtOtago:
Better than telling it how it really is "As of October 2016, she was ranked 55th (and second among women) in the World Quizzing Championships" (from wiki) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anne_Hegerty
Currently she is about 108th in World Quizzing Championships. https://www.worldquizzing.com/results/
Then just don't mention ranking at all, they don't for any of the male chasers.

I agree I don't see any good reason why they make this distinction. It does sound patronising and old-fashioned. I suspect it doesn't come from the programme, but from the organisation that makes these rankings. Still, as you say, why mention it?

...and getting off buses.
Roses are red, that much is true, but violets are purple, not ****ing blue!
There's that photo again. It must be the most-used stock photo on RNZ. C'mon people, there must be another one! Is this the cheapest?

MadEngineer: Shopping malls. They all have the same layout - wide open walkways with shops on each side. In the middle of the walkway splitting it into something akin to left and right lanes will be seats, planter boxes, small pop-up shops and the likes.
If you’re not stuck walking being a slow group of morons with no situational awareness you’ve got another group of morons not keeping to one side coming straight at you or another exiting a shop straight into your already constantly changing path.
I suspect this is deliberate , to slow you down so you notice things and are tempted to browse. As with the veggie section \ slalom course at the supermarket entrance.
The mall isn't there for you, you're there to make them money.
With the rise of online shopping, we're voting with our feet and leaving this toxic relationship.

e-waste.
I have dozens of old phones and other gadgets which work but are just ..... old. These devices are too old to get updates and now too slow to handle software which gets more and more bloated every year.
As well as things that almost work but just need a little fixing, but why spend half an hour fixing something which costs $5 ? The 'smart' thing to do is bin it and buy a new one, right ?

Or take electronics to your Sustainability Trust (or local equivalent) and they will correctly dispose of it.

Ordering something from a store that is 20min drive away and opting to pay for the delivery fee as I'm working.
Receive an email 3 days after ordering to confirm the order - OK, they are in the middle of a 60% off summer sale. I can take that delay.
Receive an email the following day after that to tell me that my item has shipped. Follow the link - courier is stating 5-7 working days for delivery. WTH? It's 20 min away! I could've taken the time off and gone to get the item by now. I chose to pay a fairly significant shipping fee for the convenience of not having to take time out of my day to go collect the item.
By the time I get the item, it'll be around a week and half after I ordered it. Not acceptable in this day and age

Should have ordered it from Amazon.AU it would have been there the same week! I want to support local, will accept a smallish additional cost for doing so, but if it's less convenient, more expensive and takes longer, warranty aside, I'm going to buy elsewhere.
