I'll say. The power supplies I mentioned all went for over $1,000, which with the premiums is going to be around the $1,400 mark. An equivalent brand new full-warranty Rigol DP832 with better performance than the Keithley is around $1,000.

So after my recent run in with Amazon.com.au which eventually did get sorted, no sooner did I get the email which said they would cover it, than 2 hours later another completely died from a month earlier. Now to start the drama again! At least I have form.

Handsomedan: I have made a lot of claims in teh last 5 years though - was just insuring my youngest son's first car and the question was asked: "Have you had any claims in the last five years?" My answer was, "I thimnk you'd better take a look at my file".

Is it his car? Insurance companies can get a bit peculiar about this.

I own it, maintain it and teach him to drive in it.

I was honest when I told them what the driving split was.

MadEngineer:
Glasses weren’t even there. Even drove back to the accommodation to check if I’d left them in the room. They were then found somehow stuffed into my backpack which is weird as I’d never put them away like that without being in a case.

On a similar note recently my wife couldn't find her prescription sunglasses - thought she might have left them at my tennis club watching my game the previous weekend as that's where she could last remember wearing them, but on checking they weren't there. Few days after we realised they were missing we found them on the stool (ie, place where you dump stuff as you get in) next to our front door underneath a pile of stuff. We failed to lift up the pile to check.

The paper/degradable scoops that come in washing powder now you're not allowed to use plastic anymore. Only last a few scoops before they fall apart and become useless. Should have kept an old plastic one.

Paper straws become a similar unpleasant experience when having something like a frozen coke or smoothie.

Due to a paperwork mixup last year we ended up with a second water meter enclosure (the black plastic box with blue lid) which I'm trying to get back to Watercare so they can reuse it. I've now phoned them on three occasions to try and get them take it back but each time I either end up in an eternal wait queue or, if I select the "call me back" option, never get a call back.

I've also tried their online chat but just end up with some dumb bot that has no idea what I'm trying to tell it.

That was the annoy bit, two followup questions:

- How long does something have to be abandoned on your property before it's yours?

- Anyone need a brand new water meter enclosure? Seriously, the alternative is to dump it since I just want it gone.

Could be useful for sprinkler valves if you need to put some in for irrigation system?

That's controlled via a valve attached to the (above-ground) water tank below the house that feeds into underground runs down to the garden, unfortunately there isn't really anywhere I can use it.

Make up a little note of the sad history, attach it to the 'spare' meter cover, then

If there's a Watercare depot anywhere near, deliver it to their door; or
If you see a Watercare van/truck/SUV parked overnight , deliver it to the occupier of that home ; or
Find out the CEO's home address, deliver it to him ; or if all else fails
Find out the Chairman's home address, deliver it to him

Your meant to empty the powder into the washing machine, not throw it in with the scoop 😉

Seriously, never had any issues using the paper scoop with Persil.

Just not as aggressive as using a plastic scoop

You can buy the old-fashioned grocery dry-goods scoops for next to nothing from your favourite crapvendor, I bought a couple in various sizes years ago and always find new uses for them. Here's a typical example, "food scoop" seems to produce the most useful results.

If you really want to get quaint, there's these.

If you haven't already ordered it, I wouldn't. Had no luck with that even though it looks impressive.

Or several others.

Not ordered it yet. Lots of good reviews though.

I have many holes to fill after putting up curtain rails on Tuesday 🤣
