Dingbatt:

Some thing small that annoys me is people relitigating the Apple/Android wars, that to my knowledge, petered out at least 5 years ago.

Glad I wasn't doing that then. I can't speak for the others here.

Handle9:

That isn’t what you said and you were absolutely making a value judgement.

You said overcharged not expensive. That is clearly a value judgement.

Expensive is a value judgement too though right?

I don't know why you want to push this. I only conceded because I didn't feel like going to the trouble of trying to prove my argument. If I did I would research this properly and come up with innumerable examples that would prove beyond any doubt that Apple is expensive and does overcharge. The starting point is definitions for those two terms.

However, I don't feel like exerting the effort over a matter this insignificant. I have gone down this rabbit hole too many times before. If someone wants to feel they have scored on this, and if it matters that much to them, then they can have it. I don't care.

Not to the same extent. One implies wrong doing, the other is more descriptive.

I’m sorry you can’t discuss your comments without being nasty. It’s a shame but seems to be how it goes.

I have been seeing these "Computer wars" ever since I got onto my first BBS with a dial up connection...so about 40 years....and it got boring quickly back then too.

TRS-80 vs Apple IIe vs Vic 20 vs Sinclair vs BBC vs...blah blah blah.

ALL my modern gear is Apple, it works the way I do, other people work differently and prefer Windows/Linux/Android/etc and good for them finding a tool that works for them.

The most expensive part of a computer is the idiot at the keyboard, make them more productive by giving the best tool for THEM and it quickly becomes the most cost effective tool for them. Your "best tool" is different from mine, good, but I don't care because its not the best tool for ME.

Apple, Google, Microsoft, Adobe, etc etc etc etc etc all have vendor lock-in, hardware tooling , Ryobi, Metabo, Hitachi, DeWalt...etc etc

So please either let this go, or create another topic so that that too will quickly become "your Mum..." and then die and we can carry on with something that is more interesting.

We just need to come up with a thread title.  Perhaps "Why the Commie 64 beats every other computer" and then take it from there?

I have about 350 old computers from the 1970's/1980's, I probably have what ever anyone thinks is the best...maybe.

I'm sorry you think I'm nasty. I'm not trying to be.

You also exhibit some qualities I find unappealing but I don't want to go into that here. Let's move on to something else.

Eva888:

Almost as bad as that gap in car between seat and console. Never thought dropping a phone down it would cause so much hassle to get back out. Hand unable to get far enough to grab which means getting out of the car to attempt from under the seat. Couldn’t do that in the garage as drivers door close to wall and won’t open enough. Had to drive outside and it was still a mission kneeling contorted on the ground trying to reach in and realising a torch would come in handy, but it’s on the phone. At least there was no chance of rats.

They need to design black mesh catchers for those gaps.

Sliding the seat forward or back makes it easier to reach from the back or front. It then causes some concern about crushing the phone somehow.

On reflection, I have to say that I see your point. I didn't think I was being nasty and I didn't intend that. My intention was sarcasm. In any case, I feel my comment went too far and I apologise.
