The creeping growth of fake channels on Youtube: AI-generated stories with AI-generated voiceovers for AI-generated images, and judging by the large number of singleton comments (a single comment saying how wonderful the video is with no follow-on discussion), bots boosting their ratings with generated comments.

I wonder how long before it degenerates into a circle jerk of a thousand channels of AI slop feeding AI bots posting slop in response.

Case in point: search "2025 Morris Minor" on YouTube.

"I regret to say that we of the F.B.I. are powerless to act in cases of oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate commerce." — J. Edgar Hoover

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper." — Andrew Maxwell

Wow, that's as bad as the adopted-strays fakes.  Although since they're only showing cars it looks like several have got motion video going, which they can't do for the pets+humans.

That BS AI channel has 54K subscribers and over 23 million views. Interesting to see that many commenters seem to think all these 2025 cars are for real.

The top ones at least also look human-generated, unlike the pet-adoption ones.

I reported an obvious scam ad to one of the advertising networks the other day and they came back and, without giving a reason, said that they won't be removing the ad.

It became immediately apparent that the system won't work, as long as the people vetting the ads are the same ones making money from the ads.

Right up there with cloned profiles on FaceBook.  Report them and more often than not, the reply is "this profile doesn't breach our community standards".

I suspect they do nothing about those inorder to drive their ability to suggest that people provide them with ID to prove they are a real person and then they have a govt issued name to assist with advertising targetting instead of the made up names and DOB that people give them.

AI just annoys the crap out of me! It is the current buzz word, google and others push it onto you every where!

So just now got a random mobile call, and it started with umm hi, it is so and so here (like he is my new best mate voice), and I have a fantastic AI product to talk to you about...

And I say you lost me at AI, and guy still trys to hang on to the call, and I hang up annoyed! Clearly spam. I think it was an insurance AI angle by searching his name.

Strava tried AI and called it Athlete Intelligence.  It was a complete load of bollocks as expected.  Go for an easy run and it tells you how hard you pushed today compared to other days (I think I'd just done a super easy 5km recovery run a couple of days after a 7+ hour 50km Ultra, so yeah, totally so much harder than previous).  None of it made any sense if you read it along with the actual activity data.  Just a pointless waste of time that subtracted from the user experience rather than adding anything useful.  Luckily you could opt out of the Beta.  Unsure what happens when they "turn it on" properly.  I suspect the backlash from the user base will be quite significant.

My run from last night has athlete intelligence referring to "varied elevation, pushing into higher heart rate zones and consistent overall pace". The first two points are blindingly obvious, while the third point is factually incorrect due to the variation in terrain.

I just want Strava to give us the option to disable the quick edit feature. So annoying!

Weirdly, I've never had the quick edit option on mine.  What would be nice is, like Garmin, the ability to tap on and edit only the title and not have to go full edit to do so.

Strava in general is something that annoys me. My pool swim stats are so obviously wrong that they might as well be making up random numbers. It's all 100% accurate in Apple Fitness.

When it comes to money, morality is the first thing to be thrown overboard.
