What kind of gremlin orchestrates a fridge malfunction while the owners are away! The cameras alerted me to someone in the house. Checked it to see my daughter on her knees soaking up dead animal juices. She said it was stinking but still partially freezing and the top was cold. Told her to shut the door and I will deal with it on my happy homecoming. Ugh! And I was dreading unpacking which now sounds like a pleasure in comparison. Fridge is two years old.

What brand is it? My fridge has stopped leaking since I turned it off and emptied it for the last Xmas break, though the sticky door still persists from time to time.

"I regret to say that we of the F.B.I. are powerless to act in cases of oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate commerce." — J. Edgar Hoover

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper." — Andrew Maxwell

Had a mcb trip on a holiday house fridge which sat defrosted for weeks and turned into a biohazard WOMD.
Luckily it didn’t leak but we had no option but to switch it back on to refreeze the contents then take it on a trailer to the tip.

Fridge is a Beko. Spare one in the laundry. I did notice on the day we were leaving that the upper fridge had frozen a few things near the bottom, but thought maybe I had too much in it and some was touching the back wall. Rearranged it before we left. Obviously it was a different issue.

Cheap combo fridge freezers suck, as they have a single cooling loop and just rely on hopes that the freezer remains frozen. Some dont even do that and have a fan to move cold air from the freezer to the fridge, and if that blocks up then you loose fridge cooling and the freezer will totally ice up, then leading to not enough cooling in the freezer because there is a block of ice around the important areas blocking the transfer of cool to the rest of the freezer.

Get a chest freezer. No frost free BS to ruin your icecream. No shared cooling with a fridge that may have vastly changing cooling needs in it. No loss of cold air replaing it with humid warm are needing the frost free crap everytime someone opens it.

Chest freezers use next to zero power.

… and no convenience when you’re in the kitchen and want to grab a couple of slices of Vogels out of the freezer. Or, more importantly, ice for the G&T.

Those would be in the kitchen freezer which is for short term storage of things, and ice comes from the ice dispenser on the door of it.

Kitchen fridge-freezers always work by drawing cold air on demand from the freezer to the fridge compartment don’t they? Otherwise you’d have to duplicate the evaporator.

No, only the crap old inefficient ones do that. They either have the cooling loop do both, and just use hopes for the temperature control of the freezer or have them separately controlled.

The crap old ones is why stated food shelf life for best before dates is so much lower than you can get with a modern one where you can set the fridge side to 2 degrees and it will actually hold it. The older ones would vary wildly and not even get to the 4 degrees that most people set them to. because they only had the distrbution of the air coming in to keep things cold and it would often not make it all the way thru the fridge.

Vertigo after a flight. Is this a thing? Good reason not to bend down to unpack suitcases though.

Sydney airport Qantas gate 60. They have cleared both Qantas gates of seating so you have to sit a long way back in gate 59. When they call the groups no one can hear or understand the muffled announcements that don’t reach the other gate, nor see the board that has which group number is boarding, so everyone swarms up closer and stands around creating more confusion.

Wonder what genius thought removing seating at a gate was a practical idea. Especially since there were three overseas flights code-sharing and some very tired passengers from a long flight.

I'm sorry to say it, but Beko is not necessarily the most outstanding manufacturer (at least when it comes to refrigerators) and is often at the bottom of independent consumer tests. The favourable purchase price usually comes at a high price later on. But you shouldn't rely on the manufacturer's name alone, as the test results unfortunately vary regardless of the name.

- SRV: HA server cluster, 0.1PB storage capacity on premise
- IoT:   thread, zigbee, tasmota, BidCoS, LoRa, WX suite, IR
- 3D:    two 3D printers, 3D scanner, CNC router, laser cutter

Beko have a huge range of products, I got one because it was not stainless or white, and had an ice maker in it and was the cheapest - works great other than the plague of a white LED display on it that now has many dimmed segments.

Friend got the cheapest upright beko fridge/freezer - total piece of crap that will stress out and have the temperature spike because you put 3 trays of drinks into it and it cant move enough cold into the fridge part.
