Non-linearity and slow response to change of power setting on our ceramic cook top. On 2/9 it still boils and takes a while to slow down.
one of these days I’ll get round to replacing it with a low current induction cook top.

The usual fault mode on simmerstats used in most cook tops is to end up permanently on full time. I'm not sure if some contacts end up welded together or go open circuit. The part is about $30.

Footbath, you say?

...

Just don't use the urinals at Tashkent airport to wash your feet.

That reminds me (quite unnecessarily) of a probably apocryphal account I once read of the Soviet advance on Berlin. As the army proceeded, the soldiers looted everything they could get their hands on, but since the infantry was mainly made up of uneducated peasants, they had no idea what most of the stuff was for. Toilet bowls, though, they understood. Perfect for washing potatoes!

The new website at work has 2 factor for the login which for most people will just send them an email with the code because I have given up trying to explain what an authenticator app is.

Some customers don't get it. I have already done this they say. Do I have to do this every time I log in? Yes.

Others seem to leave our website and go to their email, and then are all surprised when they come back to our website that there is no place to put it anymore. I should never have agreed to be the contact person for these issues.

Started composing an email in Outlook using the word Colour in the subject to which it suggested was spelt incorrectly

Spent some time checking settings n mucking around without being able to fix it

In the body of the email it’s the opposite - Colour is correct but Color shows as incorrect.

AI dishing out (intentionally?) incorrect replies. Don't get me wrong - their amazing ability to understand what you are actually asking for makes traditional search engines redundant for me but... why the incorrect answers. I asked grok to list the world's various dollar currencies ranked by value. The response had the correct value for SGD but it ranked it incorrectly in the list below CAD, AUD and NZD. I asked it why  the error and it apologised and restated the answer. For all the astonishing technology that went into handling 99.99% of the request it failed on the Comp Sci 101 list sort? Come on!

I apologize for the confusion in the ranking. The Singapore Dollar (SGD) was incorrectly placed in the previous response due to an oversight in sorting the exchange rates. Based on the exchange rate provided (~1.37 SGD = 1 USD), the SGD is actually stronger than several other dollar-based currencies listed, such as the Canadian Dollar (CAD, ~1.35 CAD = 1 USD), Australian Dollar (AUD, ~1.55 AUD = 1 USD), and New Zealand Dollar (NZD, ~1.68 NZD = 1 USD). Let me clarify and correct the placement of the SGD in the ranking.

Why the Error Occurred

The SGD was listed below CAD, AUD, and NZD despite having a lower exchange rate value (meaning fewer SGD are needed to equal 1 USD, indicating a stronger currency). This was a mistake in the ordering process, as the ranking should strictly reflect the exchange rate (lower numerical value = stronger currency relative to USD).

Another thing: Why is the "Post Quick Reply" green button often ineffective/doesn't change cursor?

After about 150 pool swims with perfectly accurate metrics, my Apple Watch has suddenly decided to start under-counting my laps and strokes halfway through a swim.

I hope it's not a sign of slow water ingress messing with the sensors. 😬

I think this is a MS wide problem not just Outlook.

Just try setting up spell checker in Word or Excel (or date formats and anything else where the US is out of step with the most of the world) sometimes. There's global Office settings and then there's settings within the individual application like Word Outlook etc.

It could be that you clicked it, there was an error and you used the Back button.

The button is disabled when clicked, to avoid double-posting. But some browsers don't enable the button again when the Back button is used.

Not knowing what’s annoying you, I can see how annoying that must be.

Now I’m annoyed on your behalf, but I’m not quite sure why?

Gmail changing its server-side settings and not being upfront about it, meaning I have to create a new IMAP account in my e-mail client. And having to sift through all the duplicate messages that result.

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them.
