People who don't think ahead about their driving route. Case in point: the end of our street is a major road. Extremely difficult to turn right at peak time. People drive up there to turn right and get stuck there for ages, blocking everyone else who needs to make the easy turn left.

 

They could have taken a very small alternative route to end up at a traffic light controlled intersection onto the same main road and saved himself much time, stress and risk.

Heh! Is it named after a bolshie northern Iwi?

 

Sometimes I think these sort of intersections need to be made no right turn if there's not enough width to allocate a separate lane for the right turners.

Ummm... if the intersection was made no right turn, there'd be no need to allocate a separate lane for the right turners.

 

I'm guessing you work for NZTA.

Better margins to be made on the additional products and in many cases a significant additional income stream. A bit like waiting in line at the movies.

When there is a large queue for the checkouts at Bunnings, Yet that guy who stands at the entrance and says hi as you walk in, can't be bothered walking 10m to open another checkout lane.

My GPS nav unit does this to me. It often likes to keep me on the road im currently on. So it often does silly things like the above. And if you don't know the area, by the time it has directed you down an annoying route, often it is too late to turn around.
