Pumpkin - the unpredictability thereof.

We like to dry-roast pumpkin pieces, skin-on. Sometimes it's 'dry' and slightly sweet as it caramelises - beautiful taste and texture.

However other times it's 'wet', bitter and nasty taste and texture. This has nothing to do with how long it's baked and it seems to be impossible to tell what it will taste like when it's cooked by looking at it raw. Furthermore the season seems to have nothing to do with all this.

Companies that dismiss your emails without even considering them.

The casio distributor has recalled an AC adapter (zzu10001) because it can split and expose electrical parts.

https://www.rockshop.co.nz/bandroom/news/casio-power-adapter-product-recall-notice/

I have a very similar casio keyboard adaptor but not specifically in the recall.   However, my casio adaptor split and also exposed electrical contacts directly connected to the 230v supply.

My casio AC adaptor has a modular pin head for different country pin layouts --You just plugin the pin head module your country.

Like this (this is a picture of the one they are recalling)...

My adaptor failed , because plugging/unplugging from the wall socket causes the modular pin head to completely crack open, it is flimsy to say the least. Seems an incredibly dangerous design.

So, i was not surprised when I saw the recall, thinking mine must be in the recall too. But it is not.

I sent an email to the casio distributor, with a photo of my casio adaptor wondering if mine should have been recalled too.

Got a fairly annoying response. Firstly, she said the pins on the recalled ZZU1001 units were not removable, when clearly they are as you can see this at this link...

http://www.dynapowerusa.com/product/6w-wall-mount-adapter-with-interchangeable-ac-plugs-zzu1001-6w/

THen, she said I should just go back to the retailer as casio do not sell removable pin adaptors so mine must be an aftermarket adaptor.    She didn't even look at this photo I sent.

Clearly a casio adaptor that has removable pins, something that does not even exist according to her (I guess it could be counterfeit but unlikely).

Oh well, i guess it doesn't really matter that much. There probably aren't too many around anyway.

Genuine product through official supply chain.

It just irritated me that they didn't really care because it was not in the recall batch, and they didn't even read my email properly.

It is definitely a design fault though (in my view of course).   Just plugging/unplugging cause the pin adaptor to break off.

Chemists who treat me like a drug addict just because i want to buy a packet of Nurofen plus for a really sore tooth. I had to produce id , name address and a medical history to a 20 year old woman who is not a medical expert. Felt really guilty walking out of the shop.

A bit harsh. She doesn't make the rules, she's only doing as she's been told. The chemist didn't make the rules either, for that matter. Blame those whom misuse pharmaceutical drugs.

I wouldn't blame the shop personnel, I definitely blame incompetent civil servants and politicians. I have run into the same issue where some 18 year-old dropout wants to pass judgement on my right to buy alcohol when accompanied by a (very young) child. Counter staff have no business making these kinds of decisions and they shouldn't be put in a position where they have to. They don't have training or life experience for it. This is political correctness gone mad because some anal political drone wants to be able to demonstrate that she is 'doing something' about the underage drinking problem. This kind of stupidity is a calculated insult to every thinking person in the country and ought to be a source of great outrage.

My body clock - It never keeps time. I feel perfectly awake right now, Yet I should be fast asleep right now. And yes I have previously been to the doctor about this, but even the meds that were prescribed to me - analogues of valium which have a high addiction risk, didn't work reliably. I quickly stopped taking them as an addiction to prescription drugs never helps anything.

Trade Me sellers who don't think.

Example: someone selling something they considered too delicate to ship from Nelson. Since I never go to Nelson, at least not often enough to be useful in this instance, I said thanks, not coming to Nelson any time soon, but if you decide you can ship then I would buy.

two days later...a Fixed Price Offer arrives for said item. Which I have already said I cannot collect...I doubt the item in question had more than half a dozen people interested so surely not too hard to segment the Buy Now...

The latest Windows update, which has quietly decided that my graphics card is too old, and therefor I am no longer allowed to have dual screens. This, despite both screens showing POST and even the windows loading logo, right before turning one off. HaHa me thinks, I'll just restore back to the last good version and tell it not to upgrade. Sucess! Two screens again. Start up again this evening, and we're back to one - and the option to restore has magically disappeared.

/rant.

Thanks.
